In love with the new pioneer 3100

Just installed the pioneer 3100. I have to say ive never had anything this high tech, dut daaang its cool

if anything this will add to the searches.

Highly recommended. Best bang for the buck (it is a little expensive but WAY less than some of the competition.) looks factory and makes the factory speakers sound even better.

EDIT: I tried looking for where i found that picture for the screen but i couldn't find it again. If you are out there i just wanted to say thank you.

DUDE i have the exact same one. i love it too. i have 3200 songs on my ipod and i can get through them no problem.

I'm pretty anal about my higher priced items and did a lot of research on this and other sites. I can tell you why i went with this one and should be taken with a grain of salt or 2.

1st I have had wonderful expirences with pioneer head units. 1st one i had was in three vehicles 1st one being an 83 chevy truck that was beat on a regular basis in the desert and never gave me a problem, it was moved to 2 other vehicles and is still in the last one after 11 years.

2. I HATE the pockets left when doing a single DIN stereo. The single DIN's would have done what i intentionally wanted out of a stereo (mp3's) but i wanted a double DIN.

I narrowed it down to 3 options in my price range. All pioneers. the FH-8000bt. looks like a regular radio but bigger, had bluetooth. while cool it only had one color for the buttons (read-anal) price was $350. Next one up was the AVH-p3100dvd (what i have now.) It was $50 dollars more, played mp3's and had a screen so it played dvd's as well. Not high on the priorities but a bonus none the less. The last one was the AVH-P4100DVD. Esentially the same as the 3100 but has a bigger screen and was $100 more than the 3100. Since the dvd was just a bonus i decided on the 3100.

There were other head units like the kenwood and eclipse that were in my pricerange but i honestly didnt look at them because of my good luck with pioneers and my friends bad luck with the others. There were also headunits that had navigation. Those didn't interest me either as i know how to read a map and i have no significant other to yell at me if i do get lost. i figure it out.:lookout:

I was plesantly supprised on how the factory speakers sound 10x better with just the new headunit. I was seriously contemplating new speakers but now i will hold off until the factory ones blow. I do have a sub amp and 2 10" Boston subs in the back so it already had bass. sounds like your in the movie theatre when watching movies.

Thats my story and im stickin to it.

I have the same one on order! Did the Toyota trd logo come on it or did you upload that its sweet. I went with focal speakers inthe doors seperates in the front and a MTX sub in my 03 runner should have it in this week.

Uploaded it but i cant find where. when i do get new components it will be either the Focal's or Boston Acoustics

Did you install it yourself?

I am considering getting a new head unit, and I'm having trouble deciding whether to go through crutchfield or not. They typically give you 40-50 bucks worth of installation parts and what they seem to think are great instructions, but they also charge 100-150$ more for their stuff.

I have the 4100 myself. Same screen interface and all, but I prefer the bigger screen and not having the iPod cable hooked up on the front instead of being hidden in my glove compartment.

One drawback of recent Pioneer headunits is the disappearance of the album covers during iPod playback. Kind of annoying since I went back onto iTunes and painstakingly added them to the songs that didn't have them. Took about a two weeks to click and copy 3000+ CD covers from Amazon and various other websites.

Are you talking about the 4100 not having the album covers? Because my 4100 does, but the only complaint is that it's very pixelated.

It is very pixelated, but it sometimes doesn't show up at all. I have to go back into the main menu, reselect iPod, then it shows up...
