Injector question

I have not heard of any differences between injectors hopefully someone can chime in would be nice to know..

As long as you replace all of them at the same time you should be okay. Mixing and matching injectors is when issues start.

I did some searching on some parts vendor sites and it turns out the PN for a 97 injector is the exact same as the injector for a 99 (23209-79095) so they should work.
I was thinking I should replace the O rings also while I'm at it but yikes, almost $4 a piece and you need 12. Those are some expensive O rings. (PN 90301-07001). I'm for sure going to replace the aluminum crush washers (PN 90430-12026 qty 6).

Crush washers for what?
You do not need to take apart the fuel rail to replace injectors.
My Build and Repair Thread shows rebuilding them yourself. It’s easy.

What is crazy for me is that my 99, built in October of 98, uses the old O rings on new style injectors. But the rail for the injectors works for all years so go figure.
Nice job on the weld there Mike. That could be the problem, or at least why you fuel trim numbers were askew.

So if I do need to swap injectors, I can leave the fuel rail hooked up to the fuel line and just pull the injectors out?
If so, than I'll do it that way.
EDIT: can you link your build and repair thread? I can't find it.

Replacing the o-rings is not optional. You'll see when you remove the old ones, they will be crushed and formed to the contour of the injector (and brittle). If you try and re-use them they are very likely to leak.

I’ve used non OEM o-rings for the injectors without any issues that came in my YotaTech head replacement kit.

Motor west has all 6 injectors with o rings for $220 shipped. They are denso but not the brown ones we all have from factory since denso doesn't make those any more. Then you'll need throttle body gasket, two plenum gaskets. And once at the rails you can lift high enough to avoid fully removing it giving you just enough space to pull injectors.

I think I'm going to hold off ordering any injector swap related parts until I can get the new o2 sensor and the repaired pipe back in place. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll fix the issue.
My 97 is not my DD so I can take my time.
The plan is to mess around with it after work so I'll hopefully have an update later tonight.
