Install 06 HU in 03 add AUX?

I want to add aux to my 03 4runner. I found a good deal on a 06 HU that has MP3 and AUX. Can I install this HU in my 03 with no problems and if so what would I need to get an AUX cable to hook up my ipod?

Is there a RCA plug on the back or is it more complicated?

There is no RCA plug, you will have to tap in to the 20 pin connector that is also used for the steering wheel controls. This plug and its ribbon cable were there from the factory in my 2004 non JBL system which didn't have steering wheel controls.

If you want Aux in the factory location, you may also need the jack and cable that run to the inside of the center console. I can probably sell you mine for a few bux + shipping, as I no longer use it.

Yeah, thats what I did. I grabbed from a wrecked scion the aux port along with the cable that goes from the arm rest console to the radio. Its a little smaller then the holes in the center console of the 4runner, like where the dac is. So I took out one of the filler blank ones, and cut a piece off and glued it cleanly to the aux port. I then installed it in my center console, and now I use it for pandora radio from my ipod.

Okay, I'm in the same boat now...I'm having a hard time understanding what the DISC-AUX button does on my 06 head unit. I mean yeah it switches to the CD player, but where does the AUX part come in? Does anyone know or have a manual? Maybe there is a plug in the back I missed? Anyone?

Do have an 06 or did you add the 06 headunit to an older 4Runner? If you have an 06 then your Aux port will be in the center console. The Aux on the radio will only activate if you've got something plugged into that port.

The only diagram I can find doesn't have the cable listed:

You might just need to go to a Toyota dealership and see if they can tell you a part number at least.
