Installed GX470 Driveshaft - Clunk/Thump Gone!!!!

List on the shaft is $381, but I got it at cost for $290 and they also gave me a coupon discount of $15. Out the door and installed was just less than $400.

nice job, where did you get it done at? toyota or lexus? im definitely going to look into this...

It was at a Toyo dealer in North Carolina. I would think that any Toyo dealer would do it. Good Luck.

hey guys just an fyi. the lexus tsb for rear clunk is now just for replacment of the driveshaft. the original tsb to replace both upper and lower rear control arms and driveshaft is opsolete. and there are no grease fitting. its a well worth invesment!!

Update here. Toyota is replacing my driveshaft tomorrow with the lexus driveshaft under warranty. It took alot of calls, emails, and badgering but hopefully this will fix my problem.

Anyone know if the drive shaft is the same for the v6 and the v8?

Just want to know if this will fit. I've got a 07 v6 4x4 SE.

If so I'll start bugging the dealer to have it replaced while it is still under the 5 year powertrain warranty.

Introduction
Some 4WD equipped 2007 – 2012 model year FJ Cruiser vehicles may exhibit a clunk/thunk noise from the rear of the vehicle or a “bump-from-behind” sensation just before a stop or when accelerating from a stop. Improvements have been implemented on the rear propeller shaft (driveshaft) to reduce this condition. Utilize the following repair procedure to address this condition.
