I've heard a lot of people recommend to run new wiring for the speakers, and although I haven't done it yet, I would to. Especially since you have an aftermarket head unit it should be pretty simple and pretty cheap.

Like others have said, the fronts are pretty straight forward. I installed JL Audio C2s all around. 6.5s in the front and 5.25s in the rear. I used these (PVC Speaker Adapters - CNC Machined - In Stock or Custom Made) for the rears. They didn't provide enough clearance for the windows to roll all the way down, so I used the grilles that came with the speakers as a "spacer". Worked perfectly!!

I have C2's in my 01 Accord EX Coupe, 6.5 in the front & 6x9's in the rear. With the JL 6 channel amp & W2 10" sub...that system rocks!:guitar3:

Hi,
Hate to resurrect an old thread, but I've looked here and in Yotatech and can't seem to find an answer.
I took off the door panel to look at my front speaker yesterday. The driver's side speaker isn't working, though the tweeter seems fine. A few questions.
I took out the four screws surrounding the speakers in that gold plate. The speaker didn't want to pull straight out. Is there a trick I'm missing?
I've noticed the entire thing is on some kind of assembly. When people say a new speaker set should be plug and play, do they mean the new speaker goes into the old assembly? Or do I need to pull the entire assembly off?
Last question. Before I go out and get a new set of speakers, I want to isolate why the bottom speaker isn't working. I guess I can buy a new set and plug it in and that answers the question, but before I do that, can I use the voltmeter to measure incoming current or resistance and see if the connection from speaker back to head unit is OK? Does the fact the tweeter is working mean that the problem is inside the speaker and not the wiring? I only see a current and a ground going into the entire component setup, so that would seem to suggest the wiring to the head unit is fine.
I'm making some big guesses here. I know my way around a wrench, but wiring and electronics are a new area for me.

I used these adaptors. Nice quality and cheap. Actually have a set that I didn't use. Lost one while moving so I ordered a new one then found the old one lol.

Sorry for reviving a 2 month old thread, but just wondering if you ever got your problem fixed. If not, like what a bunch of other posters have said, go here, PVC Speaker Adapters - CNC Machined - In Stock or Custom Made. I purchased a pair of these a few weeks ago w/ a pair of 1/4" spacers to go along w/ the adapters. The adapters are the same size and shape as the original stock speaker housings and will fit 6.5" speakers. I purchased the spacers because my speakers depth was to big and was hitting the window rail. Just an FYI, with the 1/4" spacers, my speakers were still hitting the window rail and I should have purchased the 1/2" spacers instead. What my installer did was use foam tape to give it that extra spacing I needed to clear the rail. I couldn't be happier.
I posted some pics on this forum of my install. Here is the page where you can find it if you have any questions on how it looks like installed.

If you're unfamiliar w/ the depth of your speakers, go see if Sonic sells the same speakers that you purchased and compare it to the mounting depth of the NVXVSP65Kit component speakers. That should give you a rough estimate on the size of spacers you will need to mount and install your speakers.
