Installing TRD Pro bumper trim pieces on SR5

Front and Rear Valance install

Replaced both the front and rear silver valance pieces with the black TRD ones. Probably took me an hour and a half. I tried the PlastiDip option and did really well on the front one but just wasn't doing well with the rear one for some reason so I just spent the money for new ones. I also used PlastiDip on the logos which turned out nice.

did you need to pull off the bumper covers to do that work? I can seem to find any specific "how to"

Yes I did pull them both off. The front was a lot easier except having to unplug the fog lights. Should probably get help for that. The rear is easy enough to do yourself. Both pieces I took out some screws that didn't need to come out but didn't affect anything. For the front I watched the youtube video with the guy putting the lights in the grill. The rear I just read up on it.

Just picked up my first 4Runner, 2016 Trail Premium, and was thinking about doing this; so no drilling or cutting?? Any YouTube videos from start to finish?

As Far as the front and rear trim pieces go, you'd have to drill out holes and have the retaining clips and fasteners to make it work. The TRD Pro like the Trail have front and rear trim pieces that are clip in. IMO I'd send those pieces back get your $$ back and you could do what I did which is either get those areas vinyl wrapped, Plastidip them or even Line - X to give them the look of the trail or TRD Pro. Or if you could find someone with a Trail front bumper and rear you could do a swap with, but that's a lot more work than it needs to be IMO. I say send back and plastidip or vinyl wrap

Thanks man, she's slowly coming together now...I wanted the TRDP or Trail, but we're expecting in May and my wife had to have the 3rd row, so I get to do whatever I want to it "as long as it doesn't look ghetto". ��
I was really wanting the TRD wheels until I found out they're only 17x7, and I'm wanting at least x8 wheels..
I was able to find the TRDP badge cheap, just don't know if I will do the swap. Think I'll just steal the TRDP look for now, as I haven't seen another silver with the TRD grille anywhere.

Heck, I may just black out my SR5 emblems and throw the "Pro" ones behind em, as I'm really liking the sound of the "SR5 Pro". Call me crazy, but it is pretty original..

My plan is to built my SR5 into a SR5 Pro, nothing crazy but original, well say.:hippie:

I just added the front black trd pro valance. I took the bumper off did the holes my self with a dremel. Not hard at all and clip on right way.

I will be adding the Trail valance to my SR5 in the near future. How did you go about locating the holes in the correct places on your bumper? And what sort of bit is that on the Dremel?

Going to pick up my new '16 Trail tomorrow. Very excited to say the least. My Pro parts are already on their way. Tires should be going on on Wednesday. Just need to make an appointment to get my wheels powder coated and windows tinted.

I do the same and I am pretty sure my wife hasn't even noticed I swapped the front and rear bumper covers yet.

While it does suck paying for something I feel should have been done from the factory. It'll be well worth it. I saved over 9k from MSRP on a '17 TRD Pro and a 3-5 month wait by getting this new '16 Trail. To me not a huge deal to spend 800 on a grill and bumper covers. I won't do a ton of off roading yet in mine so I figured I'd get it looking the way I wanted before I lift it.
