Interior Lighting mod

can anyone explain how to remove the light covers on the back door? are you able to do it with just a flat head? thanks
 
if I remember right the easiest way is to take the whole panel off, unplug the lights and get at the lights that way. The panel is only held on with the pop tabs.
 
You don't need to take of the entire panel. Just pop the bottom of the panel loose, slip your hand behind it and pop the light fixture out. Then you can push the panel back into place and disconnect the wires for the light. Just be careful not to let the wires slip back through the hole.

First mod to 2010 Limited will be Ambient lighting in Cargo Area

Ordered my LEDs from SuperBrightleds.com. I'm planning to duplicate the ambient lighting I put in my 2005 NISMO Fronty, but am doing it in the cargo area to add a little flare. I'll post picks once I get it going if anyone is interested in a similar mod.

FWIW - I bought these off Amazon (mine were $19.50 shipped for 10 bulbs, but the price seems to have dropped!). Swapped the Map Lights, Dome, and LP lights - so far I'm digging them. Will try the Puddle Lights and Cargo Lights soon.

Is everyone still experiencing the "light stays dimly lit when door is closed" issue when using LED's in the Cargo Area lights?

I might prefer a slightly warmer hue as these are slightly blue-ish white - I'll let these grow on me for a while before I ponder swapping them :)

Use them in my doors. They are the brightest I could find that fit. In fact they are a tight fit. So far, SBL has been excellent. Quick turnaround. Reasonable price. Good quality (as far as I can tell).

JDM Toy may have better prices. Looks like most LEDs are sold in pairs and the price is a little better but I have not purchased from them.
 
puddle lights

Hi all - had a question regarding the puddle lights in my '12 SR5. So I bought the WLED-WHP9-T per the list found earlier in this thread. It fits in the bulb connection however it wont stay in/fit securely. Therefore, the only time it works is if I manually apply pressure and push it down into the base. Once I let go to say, put it all back together and test the lights out it doesnt work. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Try spreading the wires away from the wedge base. This will make the bulb fit snugger. Also, try moving the wires outward a bit. You could try pinching the socket connections together, making them tighter. Once you get the right combo, it should stay in place.
 
2014 4runner side mirrors puddle lights

I'm wondering if anyone has done the side mirror puddle lights on the 2014 I tried yesterday and pretty much took the whole side mirror appart and I couldn't get to the bulb. If anyone has done it please post some pics on how to do it. Thanks!!
 
So I finally got around to doing my mirror puddle lamps and cargo lights today.

I popped off the rear lift gate trim panel bottom edge as suggested here, thinking the entire time there must be an easier way. Once I got the panel loose and looked at the cargo light housings, it was pretty easy to see the easier solution.

The cargo light covers have a silver metal push clip on the driver side of each cover. You can slip a small flat head under the driver side edge of the clear cover, put a little pressure one it and the housing pops right out.

No need to loosen the entire trim panel. Quicker and don't have to worry about popping the clips.
 
Ordered a full LED swap of basically every light in my Runner, headlights swapped with HID lights as well, I will post pics once they are all installed on my black beauty

Anyone know or has anyone taken the time to see if Toyota used the same factory bulbs in the 2010 as in previous years? If not I will take apart the areas and start.
