Internal Snorkel Mod 4th gen

So would you recommend the internal snorkel or the outer snorkel (if you don't have a problem with the appearance of the outer safari snorkel)? Not that I plan on sinking my t4r up to the roof or anything... But just a snorkel for piece of mind when out playing.

If you don't mind the look or price of a safari style snorkel I'd go that rout.

I decided to use this method because A.) it was cheap I had most of the parts in my garage. and B.) If I want to remove it I don't have to purchase a new front right fender i can just plate weld the inner fender and patch the holes. I can't say adding this item has made me want to see how deep i can go in a water crossing situation but its given me plenty of peace of mind to run through just about anything I've come across.
 
I think the door seals would hold up decently to standing water, probably a little more so if you put some compressible foam tubing the hollow of the seals to add more pressure when the door closes to create a tighter seal. The problem is that just because the door openings are sealed doesn't mean the rest of the vehicle is going to be sealed. for example that little trim panel on the OUTSIDE edge of the door has holes into the body as does numerous other sections of the vehicle.

I had been toying with the idea of eventually stripping the entire body down to bare steel and sealing up everyting up to the window edge (as that will be the most difficult portion to effectively seal from outside water.) But the amount of work and effort required to do something like that would be monumentous and I don't know how effective it would be in waters close to hood level as again you have things such as the cowl, window glass moulding, ventilation holes. I also was unable to judge effectively how well the vent flap at the rear of the vehicle would hold up to water pressure from the outside. As you seem to have already shown, that flap is meant as a flimsy one way check valve to help dissapate pressure inside the vehicle, but even minor negative pressure seems to negate its protection from the outside.

yep once you dive deeper than your rear cabin vents (well the level plain of your cargo floor the metal not the interior decking) your pretty much taking on water.

if that's only for a brief moment your probably fine however if your sitting there stuck.. well as I said before you'd have more problems than water inside your intake

the stock intake itself does a decent job of avoiding contact with water aside from bow waves that may splash enough water into the inner fender.

Personally I like my internal snorkel it sounds cool a lot of women seem to like it lol and it def adds a defense against water from entering the intake. I have yet to regret doing it. when I'm driving normal it's not even there. if I go to pass a car man it just opens up lol ill have to get a recording on here if I can come up with one worth a shit

yeah it's really not annoying at all when cruising you barely realize its there unless your listening for it or the radio's off. Also Everyone that's ridden in the truck has really enjoyed it. I've had multiple comments like "that sounds awesome", "is that a turbo?" (lol), "what is that?" lol
 
The instillation process on this would pretty much be the same for my '06 V6 correct?

I don't see any reason why it would be much different. Its been a little while since i've looked under the hood of a V6, but im pretty confident that the air filter inlet is in the same location as the V8.
