Dang, she looks mean. How big of a pain are the cam tabs to remove to install the Taco Tabs?

You keep the cam tabs in place to mount the Taco Tabs, you shouldn't remove them. I can grab a picture tomorrow.

If you mean removing the bolts and cams I did that a couple years ago and had to cut out at least one due to seizing and my truck really doesn't have any rust. It was super easy to remove everything this time.

Never mind I see now. I thought they were like the TC ones where they are replacements.

Finished up one side of the aluminum fender liners.

Used my new orbital sander with some 60 grit sandpaper to blend in the surface.

The reservoirs were wrapped up so I didn't notice I installed the coilovers on the wrong sides. The King stickers are on the backside. And please ignore the long reservoir clamps, the ones they gave me were too short for mounting through a plate so I used my 2 extra CV clamps.

Yet another dilemma: trying to decide between

Beadlocks
OMF beadlock conversion on my SCS wheels
Method Trail Series 701 bronze which is similar to a beadlock but without the hassle

I doubt my SCS wheels would fetch much on the used market due to how scratched they are, making the OMF conversion about the same cost to me as buying true beadlocks.
I'm just not sure if I need much capability past 10-12 psi of what the Methods can probably do. But the OMFs look so nice.

OMF said they were swamped with emails surprisingly.

Started last weekend on repainting my front bumper. The orbital sander I got made it super easy to sand and flatten the sheet metal, wish I had one when I made the bumper. You can tell where I got too aggressive smoothing with a grinder.





While letting paint dry I tended to an issue I should have fixed years ago. Ground down this resistor to fix my hyperflash turn signals. I originally used resistors but those failed, this is much better.



Crawled underneath and looked for an engine oil plug to use for a future temperature sensor location. Found 2 that would probably work. I'll investigate more during the next oil change.



Started sanding down my front skid plate. I originally painted it all white, then painted just the front black. Time to black it all out after I buy more paint.

I've not heard of the resistor mod. I know the Sylvanias I have won't last forever. They take some abuse.
Your oil temp sensor plan reminds me of a question I wanted to ask. I have read the 2UZ typically runs low pressure, or is this BS? I was wondering about an oil cooler, but would the extra capacity and distance traveling to the cooler be a hindrance for an already low pressure system? I've got a good guage here at the house, but am reluctant to install it and find out how low it actually is lol. I've heard some have seen as low as 3-5 psi at idle.

The V8 already has an engine oil cooler, and I don't remember, I think the V6 4Runner does as well. FJ's don't so my brother added one to his, its a block that installs between the oil filter and the engine. I'm guessing you can add a larger capacity cooler for it if you wanted to upgrade though.

Tacoma's had them included as a tow package only option.

I’m at the same spot with my new build, can’t decide between the 700 series methods or a set of KMC Machetes. Leaning towards the KMCs in machined finish for all the bling.

I probably won't regret getting the OMF conversion, I just don't know if I will wheel below 12psi. Beadlocks look so cool.

Yeah probably a little overkill for me at this point, but why not. I have 37 x 13.5's on stock wheels right now so airing down at all is sketchy. Might as well go with something that I can air down as far as I want.

Busy weekend and its not even Sunday.

Woke up early and drove 4 hours to pickup a Tundra bed. If you remember, our previous truck bed adventure ended up with us coming home with an empty trailer and like 8 mpg. This time I found a guy on Facebook parting out a Tundra, and he had a perfect bed with no fender flares. Not to mention he would remove it for us and he's got an F550 with a crane. I had a genius idea on how to transport it too. We flipped it over and placed it on PVC pegs that tied it to my bed through both bed pockets. Then used C clamps to hold the two beds together on the inside, and a ratchet strap for good measure. Drove 70mph 4hrs home and got 18mpg. BTW the Tundra's fuel tank strap broke a week ago and is now being held on by a ratchet strap. And it has no spare tire.

We learned the part out Tundra was stolen and taken for a joy ride which bent the frame. They were Toyota people so they were sad to see it go. Good people.







Looks sketchy, I know:




Today's second adventure involved swapping out my driver's side spindle on the 4Runner. Bought one used on ebay after noticing the driver's side has .5 degree positive camber angle, when the passenger side was .5 degree negative. The only conclusion, since I have cam deletes on the LCA and the UCA's adjusted identically, is that my driver's spindle was bent. (I do my own alignments and noticed visually the driver's tire had positive camber with my old midtravel setup, maybe after a wheeling trip, so that's how I figured it was the driver's side that was bent and not the passenger side.)

I set both spindles on my welding table and didn't notice a difference with any of the mounting surfaces, but installed the new one anyway and took her for a spin. Surprise, it doesn't wander anymore! I'll check the camber angle tomorrow but it should be fixed. I didn't want to weld the spindle gussets to a bent spindle.

 
Weekend Part II

I started with an amp and subwoofer install this morning, but before I could open the rear hatch to begin, the spindle bearings finally locked up on my bumper. Ordered a rebuild kit from 4x4labs and for now will be going armless.



Welded the 4Runner resonator onto the FJ's exhaust, I originally made it to loud and manly for him.



One of the first things I bought for my 4runner was the stock enclosure from [MENTION=51033]97BlackAckCL[/MENTION]. Haven't gotten around to installing it until today. Still says 'JL' on it.
Made some modifications to the JBL emblem, changed it to say JL :biggrin:
