What do you guys use to mount iPads? I have a full size one I would like to mount securely that I can use to navigate while driving. Something secure that can handle bumpy 4x4 roads.
Arkon Truck or Car Tablet Mount Holder for iPad Air 2 iPad 4 3 2 iPad Pro Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00585CLSQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_cJvqCbW55B49W
This works great.. mount my ipad 12” and its really sturdy.. bolted it to the passenger seat mount bolt..
I don't have a mount but to chime in on gooseneck mounts - they tend to wobble a bit too much for my taste. I would prefer a rigid mount like Ram Mount over any gooseneck mounts.
What's the legality of these?
More and more states have laws against using "mobile devices" while driving which the iPad can be considered by Smokies (who don't seem to be distracted by typing on a laptop while driving).
Yes, I realize the irony that many new cars have screens larger than iPads--especially Tesla.
Anything strong enough that doesnt need drilling or bolting?
My setup above has been perfect for me.
Nice I couldn't tell it wasnt bolted in.
Yeah, the little ProClip grabber is awesome.
My setup, in the low position.
Driving on I-35 yesterday San Antonio to Austin. Driver in front of me was crossing lines and speed was fluctuating 65-85. Would not get over to let line of autos pass. When I finally passed in center lane I saw the driver was doing something on iPad mounted on center console. I honked to get drivers attention and driver flipped me off. I just shrugged and kept driving.
I drive a lot with my job and I witness very dangerous driving daily now due to electronics in use while driving. #1 cause of accidents today is hand held devices in use while driving. Even if you are a great driver there is no way you can have 2, 3, 4 electronics mounted on dash, console, passenger seat and not be distracted.
I just read story on our page of a wrecked 4Runner due to other driver using electronics. Do yourself and everyone else on the road a favor and use 1 device, factory nav or phone for voice directions and concentrate on the road. I am sure you are as concerned for your family’s safety as I am for my family.
Thanks

That looks like a nice low key option. Love the fact that it is no drill.
I like the one for the vent as well, definitely need a place to put the cell phone. Does the plastic around the air vent hold up pretty well against the pressure of the clip? Or does it bow/bend it out a bit?
