iPhone/IOS Bluetooth issue?

Just upgraded my wife's iPhone 6s to a 7 today and also upgraded the IOS to 10.1.1. Went out to pair the new phone to the 4Runner via Bluetooth, phone only, via the voice commands and got it paired with no problem. But now, when the phone connects to Bluetooth, the radio switches to BT Handsfree mode and displays "talking..." on the screen. It won't let me change the mode to radio or anything else. Is this a known issue? Are there maybe downloadable updates that can be loaded via the usb port or something that might fix this? I know my newer truck has this ability but have never even checked on the 4Runner. Just wondering what the solution to this might be?

While getting the oil change on my t4r I mentioned the problem to the service manager. I guess what they did fixed these issues. But I have to see if it really worked. They said they updated the software.
I wasn't aware of any new updates but it was done free.

What year is yours though? Mine is 2011 and doesn't have the touch screen radio. Does have the USB port though. I have a 2016 Ram truck and recently downloaded an update for my unit and installed it myself but I am not sure if or how I can do that on the 4Runner.

I had that issue after a week of owning my '16 T4r. I couldn't figure anything out except shutting off the truck. Then after a couple times of dealing with it,I finally just started the Pandora app on my phone and it made the call end and start playing music, resuming back to normal operation. Not necessarily a fix but haven't had it happen since.

Interesting - I'll have to play around with it and see if I can shake it loose. I can't see how this is specific to the phone since it's a wireless connection, but maybe it is. I wonder if it's the IOS version and would have happened even with her old phone once she loaded the upgrade.

Ive noticed text messages no longer come through to the screen. It happened after one of the ios upgrades a few months back.

Havent seen your issue though.

Getting same message on 2007 4R starting with IOS10. "talking..."

I think it has something to do with the new car find / parked car feature but havent had time to figure it out yet.

If you figure anything out let us all know.

Thanks for the tip. I looked up that feature and maybe that's it since it's enabled by default in IOS 10 and when I set up the new phone, I turned on location services. I'll play around with some things this evening and report back here what I find. Call me old school, but I don't think I've ever forgotten where I've parked my car to the point where I needed a GPS to get me back to it. Maybe I've just never been drunk enough...

Go figure. Went out to try again this evening and it worked first try without changing anything. Mystery not solved but gone.
