The 5th Gen allows you to lock and unlock the center diff?
he has a new 2010 SR5.adoihcj, what do you have?
My post assumed you had a 5th gen SR5 or Trail with part-time 4WD.
i never knew that about the '02 3G. very interesting.2002 3rd Gens also have a lockable center differential. 2wd, AWD, 4Hi locked, AWD Low, 4lo Locked.

So I think what I'm hearing regarding my part-time 4WD system for my 2010 SR5, I should not use 4WD Hi on dry pavement unless I am doing so to keep the system lubed for a short period of time or driving straight for a long distance (which is usually never the case where I live).

I don't think part time 4wd needs to be driven for the system to be lubed.
This thing comes from 4th gen all-mode 4wd v6 with dial shifter.
5th gen parti-time has a knob and there is no actuator I guess that needs to be exercised periodically.
Your all wrong. Using 4hi with the center diff UNLOCKED is completely fine. NOTHING will bind, you can do figure eight's all day long because the center diff allows the front a rear wheels to spin at different rates.
Nope. Only the Limited trim line of the 5th gen has the Torsen.According to the Toyota website the SR5 w/ 4wd has a lockable center diff thus you can unlock it.
On the 4th gen, all trim lines got the Torsen. Not so for the 5th gen.The 4th gen had the same feature.
I agree it is possible however the V6 Multi mode is not the same as the AWD. For myself I try to limit it and more importantly at least for me if I am hitting 70 and I need to be in 4Hi I am going to fast for conditions.
