Is my car a Sport Edition

Guys i recently got a 2004 V6 and the carfax report says Sport Edition, but I do not see a hood scope on my hood, do I have a sports edition or just the SR5.

What color is a roof rack and running boards? More importantly, are there X-Reas shocks under the rig? Those look like any other shocks except there are oil lines coming out of them? If you have all of above, then it's a Sports Edition.

well my car is black and the running boards & rack are black too, i need to check the oil lines though

It must be a SR5. Sport Ed has "gray/silver" color tube running board and rack

You can easily tell an SR5 from a Sport Edition a number of ways for your '04 MY (now assuming everything is mostly stock and nothing altered too much):

Other than the obvious badging, an SR5 would have the following:

-Matte/unpainted BLACK side view mirror housings - a dead give away
-BLACK roof rails
-No hoodscoop
-All black shifter grip (for the most part)
-16" six spoke wheels OR
-17" five spoke wheels (as the earlier LIMITEDs had)
-normal shocks

A Sport Edition would have the following:

-COLOR keyed mirror housings
-Silver roof rails
-Hoodscoop
-Silver trimmed shifter grip
-17" SIX spoke wheels
-X-REAS shocks which are crossed linked - look for some rubber lines connecting from each shock, and steel lines running along the outside of your frame into a central modulator (located about midway between front and rear tire). The X-REAS modulator looks like an iron cylinder piston housing.

this may sound silly, but isn't is WRITTEN on the front driver and passenger side doors, "SR5", "Sport Edition", or "Limited" ???

Correct.

The VIN will only distinguish the model between SR5 and Limited. So technically speaking, the Sport Edition is a SR5 by the VIN and there's no way other than to physically check for SE specific features from a SR5 through a VIN.
