well 1 of the guys he's pretty cool have a jeep cherokee 96 97... surprise me the other guy has a toyota 4 runner 95 4wd I think but recently before this stupid comment he ofered to buy my engine...go figure rite lol

As someone who had owned multiple Jeeps and multiple 4Runners, I can tell you you have them beat. Don't worry about them, just enjoy your truck.

I get this 1996 sr5runner from my parents try to fix it up my friends tell me a 3.4 liter engine 2wd drive atomatic is no good... is that true??? they said it's a piece of s*** and can get any power from a runner

You're fortunate to have the Runner .

Much better to have it than one of those little 4cyl cars that these people put on those big exhaust that looks like they stole off some farmers tractor and ends up sounding like a pissed off weedeater.

the 3.4 is a much better motor all around. more reliable, longer lasting, and more powerful than the 3.0

The 3.0 was also notorious for blown head gaskets

Hehe, lets see if they say the same thing when theirs breaks down and your keeps going, or in 10 more years when your still runs like a top and they have new cars.

I was thinking the same thing. I didn't buy mine because it is the best off road, or fastest. I bought it because it is tough as nails and will last forever if you take care of it.

Sometimes people are jealous, it's a bad trait to have but some do.

My advice is LEAVE THE 4RUNNER ALONE and any smacktalking "friends" can walk. If you want more offroad capability and you've got some $, sell the 2wd and buy a 4wd. Take your time and shop around for a 5-speed with e-locker! If you don't think it's fast [& furious] enough, you are right.

Just put a nice coat of wax on the truck, drive it and start saving up for the truck you really want. Don't mod the 2WD 4Runner that you are not in love with.

BTW, I assume you are in high school right? You can always tell girls it is 4WD, most have no idea what a differential is or how 4WD works.

In high school I used to talk smack to my buddies with SUVs/Trucks... Then I drove my M3 up to Mt. Hood to go boarding and wrapped it around a tree, forcing me to catch a ride with my buddy every weekend for the rest of the season. I have loved 4Runners ever since (Well, there was a quick stint with an A4 putting ~400hp to all 4 wheels. Race cars are terrible daily drivers)

no power from a 4runner? i'd like to think that my 4runner is a bit.... "spunky" :spider: sometimes.

when you get the chance, do the deckplate mod. it's cheap, easy, and makes a pretty noise.

id be stoked if my parents had given me a 4runner regardless of it being 2WD
