Tacomas are having issues with the white paint color.. they are peeling and chipping and are overall of the lowest quality. Is there similar issues with the 5th gen 4runners?
Is the 4runner white paint durable or bad like the Tacomas

It's crap. It will chip if you look at it wrong, especially on the hood. It's a single stage with no clear coat.

Nooooooooooooooooooo! I love the white ones and theres one local for 38.. ughhhh.. thanks for the info tho, dealers saying i need to make a decision quick, as they dissappear in a week at most!
To keep any paint from chipping, apply the clear bra, sometimes called a hood protector. Usually made by 3M. 2018 Toyota 4Runner Paint Protection Film - Front Bumper - SR5 - PT90789142 - Genuine Toyota Accessory
I have it on all my cars and never have chipped paint. You have to install it when the vehicle is new, before it acquires any chips.
Any tire, not just the OEM ones, will kick up rocks. Mud flaps will help keep the tires from kicking up rocks onto the rockers, running boards or rear fenders.

Lot's of people like and own color white. Single stage white with no clear coat can be a good thing if you really need to cut the paint and polish it down. It is true that some white 4runners had chipping/peeling issues. So far my 2017 white is OK.

Nope. All tires don’t do this. The tread is so tight that it picks up every tiny rock and throws it on the car when I drive faster. Appropriate AT tires have much wider grooves and don’t do this. I’ve owned countless sets of tires on 26 cars in my driving days and none have ever been like this. Not even close.
Another white here, and wheeled often. I generally like white, so I'm used to single stage with no clear, since most plain whites are like that.
Mine looks good - a few rock chips here and there but honestly not much and definitely not more than any other colors I've had. I see nothing detrimental, really. Also, trail pinstripes don't show all that much, which is a huge plus, compared to a darker color.

I have some unique qualifications to answer this question since I detail cars for a local Toyota dealership, I just sold my (purchased new) 2014 Super White Tacoma with 115,000 miles on it and bought a 2021 Super White 4Runner.
The Tacoma had virtually perfect paint other than a few stone ships on the front end and the guy who bought it thought it was new when he first looked at it. In short, no problems at all with Super White. I should note that I ceramic coated the paint with Carpro CQuartz twice while I owned it.
I've been detailing all of the used Toyotas (and some of the new ones) for over a year now and have not seen a single paint failure on Super White yet. For that matter, I haven't seen a single paint failure on any factory paint. This should give you an idea how rare factory paint failures really are.
Finally, the Super White paint on my new 4Runner appears to be just fine after 10,000 miles and as you might guess, I'm pretty picky. I have exactly one stone chip on the hood and this one has also been ceramic coated with Carpro CQuartz UK 3.0.

I'm pretty low key on paint maintenance. Usually a yearly hand wash and application of a high quality carnauba wax. Several no-touch washes in between with spray wax. Every 3 years or so I detail: hand wash, clay bar to strip oxidation, hand apply 2 new coats of carnauba and magic eraser black trim. Works like a charm!
