No the oil should have a dipstick, it's on the passenger's side of the engine, should have a yellow T shapded handle on it.
Not sure what you're seeing unless the handle has broken off and appears to be a plug.
Got a photo of what you're seeing?
The transmission is sealed and doesn't have a dipstick.
I keep hearing that the transmission is sealed. When I look at it, it has a flexible vent tube that clips to the side of the engine just below the cylinder head. The vent tube attaches to the transmission where the dip stick tube used to be.
Dealer service tech was trying to tell me the same thing, but no Toyota didn't change to a sealed transmission right away on the V8 w 5 speed. The earlier yrs had a dip stick for the trans, think the 4spd only.
5spd trans went to sealed/none stick.
Wasn't sure on the 8s. My 04 had a stick, 08 doesn't. Both 6s.Dealer service tech was trying to tell me the same thing, but no Toyota didn't change to a sealed transmission right away on the V8 w 5 speed.
03' 5 speed Type IV Transmission Fluid w dip stick.
3rd picture Passenger side: Yellow round handle is Engine Oil dip stick.
Brown T handle is the Transmission Fluid dip stick.
4th picture: Transmission Dip stick tube where the pan is bossed for it.

EDIT: I guess the pictures won't load.
I read the same thing about the 04' being the last year before they changed to sealed.Wasn't sure on the 8s. My 04 had a stick, 08 doesn't. Both 6s.
Think it was in 05 or 06 when they converted.
There still having problems on some parts of this form, notice pictures.
I just was able to get back into my account, personally.

Unless the trans is acting funny you should be ok for a few more miles, but yes, do it soon. Get any gift cards for Christmas? Start budgeting now. That lifetime fluid crap is for Soccer Moms and Dads who trade up in 6 to 10 years. It's a shame really because there is a ton of 4th gens out there with 150k to 200k on the fluid. My '06 doesn't have a trans dipstick. 205k miles, getting nervous about whether to change the fluid or not.
I assure you, my transmission has a dipstick.

5spd trans went to sealed/none stick.
And for reference sake: The 03' and 04' 4spd and 5spd WITH dipstick, take Type IV Fluid.Just an FYI,
2003, the V6 had a 4 speed trans, it had a dipstick, the V8 had the 5 speed trans, it had a didpstick and still uses the same transmission fluid that the 4 speed uses.
2004, the V6 still has the 4 speed and dipstick, the V8 still has the 5 speed but it was the first to have the sealed transmission and no dip stick and the fluid changed to the WS fluid.
2005 and onward both the V6 and the V8 came with the sealed 5 speed transmission and no dipstick.

I second this. There are DIY threads or you can have a dealer or shop do a non-pressurized << important full fluid exchange.
I have a 2005 v8 and the oil dipstick is on the passenger side by the firewall. Its yellow.
