Is there a factory installed trailer wiring harness in 5th gen?

If you are referring to his air gauge, used for "extra-curricular activities", I can't help you.
But the modular brake controller is a Hopkins In Sight Flex Mount Brake Controller. It allows you to mount the three components of the controller in different locations, which also means the bulky main part can be hidden somewhere, out of the way.
It is available from E-Trailer.com, as well as other outlets.
Seems to be a good unit, and the install is made easier due to the modular nature of the device. I cannot yet speak to its' efficiency or durability.

What is that black cap next to the trailer light connector? Looks like an air fill port.
Just so you know: - the one you find in the glove box on a new Toyota plugs into the trailer wiring harness receiver above the emergency brake pedal, but the other end will need to have all the wires properly spliced into the brake controller module you purchased.
A bit less hassle, and a little more secure, if you buy the Toyota specific harness that is usually available with your brake controller. This one plugs in both ends, no splicing, just plug and play!
OK help me out please. I've installed a controller in two trucks and used two different harnesses. I had to do the following:
1. Install a 50A circuit breaker in the engine compartment
2. Run 8 GA wire into the vehicle that connected into the brake controller
3. Wire the brake controller output back to the 7-pin harness
4. Connect the brake controller to the brake switch.
If I go with either the factory supplied harness or the Toyota specific harness, I'm assuming that only covers item 4. Is that correct? Do I still need to do the rest? Do any of those harnesses cover getting the controller output back to the 7 pin harness?

You plug the harness into the receptacle above the emergency brake pedal, plug the other end into your controller module, and you are done!
Toyota has pre-wired all that other stuff for you, if your Runner came equipped with the trailer wiring package and the 7-pin receiver under the rear bumper.
