Is there a need for cup holders on the 96-98?

Hey guys, just chiming in here.

I am the proud owner of a bhicks cupholder for my Lexus LX450. They are well designed and hold my big gulp like a pro.

Back in my 4Runner days, I would have bought one of these in a heartbeat for my '97 if they were available at the time. Instead, I bought a '99 4runner

there is at least one console that the Tacoma came with that will fit my cup holder. I don't know which year it was. A guy bought one off me on ebay and posted it on a Tacoma forum. If you post a pic of your console I can let you know if it will work or not. There are two Tacoma consoles I have seen that will definitely not work with my cup holders. I am open to developing the cup holder for your console as well. I would need the console for about a week. Cup holder would be free.

It's been a while since I have been on here. the 3rd gen double cup holders got a little crazy in sells over the last few months so I decided to do everything I could to NOT increase those sells by commenting on here. I did want to say thanks to all the folks who bought cup holders. I sold over 500 3rd gen cup holder from November to January. I now have 6 machines running 24/7 that just print the 3rd gen double cup holder. I actually had to hire a guy to just print that one design. I apologize if orders took a few days to ship out. I worked SUPER hard to ship quickly but sometimes just painting and boxing up the orders for a day would take 5-6 hours and I work full time as a teacher. things have finally slowed down and I can breath again. Seemed like a good time to come out of my hole to say, Thanks. I truly appreciate the support.

Wow i never knew this existed, I see how it need cupholders, on the manual trannies they got the space for cup holders, i was intringed by this threat at first, Wondering why peopl needed extra cupholder but damn, didnt knew automatic didnt had any. or well pullouts. This could be something interesting if my friend buys his 4runner but in automatic!

My single does fit the manual for the folks that were thinking this is only for the auto. The double doesn't fit the manual due the two shifters running into when going into 5th or when going into 4LO.

I need to do a minor update. My supplier of self taping screws that comes with the cup holders switched brands on me. At first I didn't notice any difference so I just went ahead and used them. I have shipped out about 30 cup holders with the new screws. This week I had a few complaints about the screws not fitting. Apparently the new screws have a slightly larger head which prevents the screw from sliding down into the recessed hole. That means there isn't enough thread on the backside to bite into the console. I already ordered the old style screws from a different vendor and all orders from this point forward will have the old style screws that work perfect. If you got ones that don't work I can get the correct ones in the mail and out to you as soon as they get delivered to me. You can also use a standard 1-1/4"-1-5/8" drywall screw. It's has the coarse thread, right size head, and correct length to work on my cup holders. That is what I used for a couple years with the 80 series guys before I went to the self tapers. Sorry about the annoying little issue. At least I'm now aware of it and have addressed it.

Hopefully this will be my last update for a while. Two things to discuss. First; I figured I would answer a question I have been getting regularly and just post it here. The question was answered throughout this thread but most folks probably don't have the time to read through 16 pages of posts. The 3rd Gen double cup holder DOES NOT fit on the manual tranny console. I had some disappointed folks who ordered one and realized it would not fit. The double fits on the 2WD auto and 4WD auto. My single fits on the manual. Those options are hopefully pretty clear on my website. I tried hard to fit the double on the manual tranny but in the end there just wasn't enough space.
2nd; I still plan to release the double cup holder for the 2nd Gen guys. The 2WD auto version is done and a large batch was made a while back. I now need the console from a 4WD auto. Whoever loans me their console for a couple weeks will get a free cup holder out of it. Here's pics of the 3rd gen single cup holder for the manual tranny. Below that is the 2nd gen 2WD cup holder. Hopefully the 4WD will be released soon. It should be very similar to the 2WD.
