Is this an illusion or is the 5th gen way taller

I have 4 4Runners. Two of them are 4th gen and one is a 5th gen. The 5th and 4th gen have the same tires, the same lift, the same everything.... But the 5th gen looks 3-4 inches higher. What am I missing. One has a bumper, but the coil overs are cranked a little higher on that one.

I should have been more clear with my question. I am a dope, and I was posting from my phone.

I was referring to suspension height. they are the same 2003-2013 I think.

I snapped this picture, (I have not put a tape to it yet) and noticed that the headlights looked several inches higher on the 5th gen, and the suspension looks to be about 2 inches higher.

I will measure ground to frame when i get off work. but it would think that the 120 platform with the same lift and same EXACT tires would be he same...call me crazy...

Body design has made the headlights a lot higher on the 5th gen. Driveline will be the same if tires and wheels are same size.

What ^^^^ said. That's what I was kinda trying to get accross. If the body starts off at different heights, it will end up at different heights (respectively).

As 1eng points out the 5th gen does look way taller due to the headlights.

The silver truck is leaning towards the driver side a bit, but the roofline and windshield bottom are at the same height. So the trucks have the same height clearance.

Simple trick is to scroll down till the image passes out of view and check if both equal out of view.

Edit: Just FYI, the driver side of the black truck is expected to be a bit lower due to the perspective of the photographer. Because the camera is centered between the two trucks, you would expect the passenger side of the silver truck to appear lower; as that's not the case, one can assume the truck is leaning due to weight in/on the vehicle.

There may be a minor variance due to the black truck being parked a little bit further forward compared to the silver truck (as noticed by checking the "alignment" of the tires along the straight edge of the browser as you scroll the picture out of view.

my perception has been that my 2012 seems to sit higher than older models. My only experience with that is pulling up next to them, or passing them on the road etc, but it seems I'm sitting higher than these older models. This makes my wife happier tho, so I'm okay with it.

I believe that the 5th gen. is built on a modified version of the 120 platform renamed the J150 platform, I don't know if the suspension hieght was changed.

Don't listen to Engineer, he's wrong! Too many people have made awful mistakes by taking his ridiculous advice.

Just kidding, I wanted to see how that read on the forum...he's usually always correct.
