Is this my rear heater hose connection?

For one it's not connected to the vehicle like it should be but what about the clamps etc??

What should it look like?

Someone, for some reason, removed your heater control valve, and replaced it with that barbed-end section of straight pipe.

This is what should be there.

2. Hides a problem with other heater component, like maybe a leaking heat exchanger in the dash?
3. Moron fix for the control cable being broken?
Your rear heater might be the only heater that works!

Heat circulating in the HVAC unit and killing some of your cold air (you'll worry about this in summer).
Nothing else that I can think of.

Heater blows hot and air is ice cold.....guess I'll just re-attach it to the vehicle and leave it unless I start having issues.

The valve shouldn't cost a fortune. You could even pull one at a wrecker. That is just a ghetto band-aid.

no you will get heat and cold air. the control valve is to give you max cold air. when you switch the air to cold on all the settings it closes the valve and prevents hot coolant from flowing inside the hvac unit and contaminating the max cold air its trying to produce.

you fine with that straight pipe. no harm. you can replace the valve or just leave it.
