Issue with new RCI Sliders - Kickout hits rear door.

I am not planning on doing a body lift. I'm going to contact RCI and return these.
You can purchase them for $640.

Here is a picture of the rear door hitting the slider. This is with the slider position all the way down as far as it can go. In the pic I cannot even fully open the door. :frusty:
I'm at a point now that I am going to package these up and request my money back and buy Shrockworks or Budbuilt sliders.
That's much higher than mine sit. I'm barely hitting the outside edge all the way in the back. let me go take a pic.

Pretty sure mine is just a product of adjustments. Havne't adjusted since I installed back in December. Going to give it a try Sunday and see if I have enough play to clear the door.

They weren't made for a body lift. I have a set from the initial group buy which fit perfect on my 04. Call Josh on the phone or text him; he doesn't respond via email or forums.

Edit: had a few last night and realize that you're hitting in the back nearly same as I am just the other side.
I'm in about the same position as both of you on both sides on the rear. With about 1/8" clearance on the front doors.

I'm glad I found this thread. I ordered the sliders back when he announced them and I got them put on a little while ago. I finally got around to trying to contact him last week because mine are rubbing on both sides, but more so on the driver's side.
My installer did his best to get them to sit as low as he could, but they still rub. Not to mention, they were a bit of a pain to install. It's super annoying, and like one of you said I have been trying to prevent people from riding with me so I don't have to open the doors..

Nope. Mine still rub, but I haven't really tried to remedy it. At this point it's either weld them on so you can make the placement lower, or put a slight (maybe 1/8"?) to get the body out of the rub zone. Personally it's a pretty poor design. Also, don't try to lift the rig using a hi-lift on them. They slid up and I almost couldn't open my doors at all after changing a blowout in dirt. I had to jump up and down on them to slide them down enough.

Can't vouch for others but I can speak on my experience:
I spoke to Josh quite a bit about this. He sorted out that the 06-09 had a slightly different (more bulgy side/door trim) style to it that wasn't accounted for when the sliders were designed and fitted to an earlier 4th gen. Has he fixed the issue at this point? I'm not sure, that would be a question for him.
My sliders have worked out alright since the body lift. Do the flex when lifted by one of them or when they are holding the car up via a rock? Yes. But, they stay bolted on, and don't flex more than an inch and a half upward. They've already spared my rockers and bumped me around a few tight spots with no damage to them. I haven't had them slide up on the bolts on me (they did at first, then I really cranked down on the bolts).
For the money, I'm more than happy with them.
That said, if you don't want to do/don't have a body lift, and Josh confirms that they are still the same design not accounting for the 06-09 trim...I would probably look elsewhere or go weld on to avoid headaches.
I'm avoiding them like the plague. They couldn't even get their bed-rail Tacoma hi-lift mounts machined correctly. I had an issue with them twice, and they still wouldn't work. I sold the truck and just attempted to forget about it being a waste of $50 when I tossed the mounts in the trash...but seriously, this company seems to blow at what they do.

How odd... Josh was very helpful and accommodating when I ran into an issue with with his RCI Skid Plates not playing well with my SW Bolt-On Sliders (it wasn't his fault really, it just happened that the center support of the sliders shared space with the transfercase crossmember bracket and I needed to figure a way to make it work, which I did with his help.) Also the time I managed to bend 10 degrees out of my RCI Skidplate (I was having a bit too much fun) and needed to know what to bend it back to and he was more that happy to let me know the spec.
I wonder what's going on?
I would believe that the '06-09 units have plastic panels that buldge a bit more making it seem to hang lower on the frame; the body mounts body, and frame are the same so it'd be the only real answer. I hope everything works out for you guys.

Honestly I've just kind of been living with it. It's not damaging the door and there's enough paint scraped off now that it barely scrapes, heh. My 4runner is so dirty half the time I don't even notice it that much anymore. I will be getting them welded on at some point just to add to the structural integrity and prevent additional flexing from the bolts. Other than that, I'm pretty happy with my sliders, the way they look, and the way they function.

So, it sounds like the design for 4th Gens has been updated to accommodate the 06-09 differences at some point.
