With the second row folded down, six of these boxes fit perfectly and there is more than enough space for a complete second level. Add in some @RainglerNets products: attic nets, behind the front seats net, and some additional square rings in the rear area for more tie-down points...yeah, it would be pretty perfect...

I would feel a lot better running in for dinner or grabbing something at the store with my camera bag and rifle locked up in a box rather than on the backseat.

I'm going to do a cargo floor plate and I'm going to bolt/quick detach one of the boxes down just for that. Just ordered one to play around with for a bit until I sort everything I want to do out.

I have a Rhino Rack pioneer platform rack, instead of storing these in the back why not mount them on top. Since the RR uses unistrut style mounting I could drill through the bottom of the container and secure it that way right?

Theoretically, I think it's possible provided you take accurate measurements and drill the holes in the right spot. On the inside, I'd probably use a rubber gasket/washer and then a steel washer.

Two things worth noting:

1) The sidewalls of these bins are not super thick. Not like Pelicans or something. If they got hit with a sharp enough rock on the highway, they'd probably crack. I'm roof-mounting one or two 1919s for trips, but I'm just ratcheting them down.

2) The top lid is fully removable. If you wanted to lock the bin, you'd need at least 4 locks -- which would be a PITA to deal with over and over again, even if they all used the same key. Again, I'm just ratcheting mine, and I'll haul them indoors if I'm not camping.

Tbh, I'm not a fan of the Wolf Pack. It's built great, but it's just too small. I understand their marketing states it's deliberately small so you can separate things into smaller, more carry-able groups, but it's still too small for me compared to a 1719. It's a lot smaller than a 1919.

I wanted to like the Front Runner Wolf Pack but ultimately found them kind of a pain to use. There are four latches which are pretty stiff and difficult to operate at times. When your 4R is packed with gear it becomes more obvious how annoying the four latches are. I have some knock-off alu-boxes that are a bit bigger than the wolf packs and use a hinge with two latches that makes life easier. The wolf packs are durable, strong, stackable, and have a good foot print so it has that going for it.

4-1619's fit perfectly next to a Dometic CFX50. I just go back form a 3 week road trip. I had 7 plano trunks on the trip. 4 smalls in the backof the truck. 1 for recovery gear, and 3 for clothing (family of 4), Had 2 large and a medium on my trailer. one large for bedding, one for kitchen, and the medium has miscellaneous camp stuff. Love them. I am gonna try and pack for a weekend trip in just the 4 small cases though.

I plan on a lockable gun case mounted to my roof rack like this. I wan't to put all my recovery gear in there to include a shovel (have to figure out what works).

I suggest a full size shovel carried by Monkey Fists. Can’t secure it. But I have mine on my roof 50% of the time and it’s never been stolen. Also it’s a 10$ shovel so if it is, I’m not to worried about it. Every time I have had to use it though, I’ve been really happy to have a full size shove vs a compact one. I would like a compact one though for an easier time working under the truck if need be. I was think a gerber gorge for that duty.

I use a 8 dollar shovel from home depot. I cut the handel in half so it's stubby. You get way better leverage and it's not so damn clumsy when storing. I then wrapped it in hockey tape because it looks cool and we all know looking cool is all that matters.

I will be running the stock rack for the foreseeable future and I don't really see myself mounting my shovel to it. Rather just have it out of the way, keeping things clean, and uncluttered as possible. Fingers crossed it fits in a plano. Might end up chopping it more to make it fit.

I have an Orca40 that stays in the cargo area full time. Thinking of getting 2 of the small (161900) version. Seems 2 will fit crossways next to the orca. Anyone doing similar with the smalls? How do you like?

Just wanted to share how well these Clevermade collapsible crates fit. I love that they have lids and flatten down when not in use.

Go them at Costco for like $15 each. They fold up, fit under the package cover and are small enough to haul into the house. Great for groceries, because god forbid you actually get a grocery bag at a grocery store.

When they are not in use, I can fol them up. They are thin enough that if I slide the back seat forwards about 2", I can stick them behind it and still have all the cargo space.

I was looking at mounting a pair of 1919 on the roof rack yesterday. The tie downs arent very wide, and the straps I was using didnt seem to fit very well.

I'm considering using paracord or someting similar.
