Hey Forum, I wanted to ask this away from my build so it doesn't get to cluttered in there.
Here's my dilema:
I am running Daystar 2.5 inch lift (will eventually change everything out for better stuff, but that's later) with stock tires (265/70/16), and I actually enjoy it. (But it feels like it could be better, bigger.) This is my daily driver, and I also do not want TOO much slow down with 33's. Will I get that much slow down? I like to speed a bit and well accelerate too (lead foot) I know a 4runner is not the ideal vehicle to do that in, but hey.

Option 1:
I am honestly thinking about leaving it as is because at times it looks good, but then at times I want more, and at weird angles it looks "small" still.

Option 2:
My next steps WERE 1.5 or 2 inch body lift, 285/75/16's, with some summit rims. (will these work by the way, they say not hub centric)

Option 3:
Maybe 32's instead of 33's and no body lift?

On a side note the 33's I plan on getting are Michelin A/T2's.

Here are some pictures of it now, some with my dad's Xterra with a 2 inch lift and 33's. It look puny compared to his from the top, but from bottom, I look more lifted. Which is why I am asking this question.

THANKS IN ADVANCE FORUM!
-Nate

The "Weird angle" I was speaking of.

My Dad's Xterra that "towers mine"

A picture of what I mean when I say mine looks taller from the bottom

The parts where I am happy with how it is now

Honestly for you, i think a 32 would look better with the same amount of lift you have now, so a 265/75/16. i would get General grabber AT2, cheap, aggressive, quiet, long lasting

i wouldn't get those steelies either, weight too much, your rims now look really good, just need a wider stance, so some 1-1.25 inch wheel spacers should make it look plenty nice.

This is an old pic, the front tires are 31 the back are 32, you can see the size difference and how it fills the wheel well.

Thanks for your input t4r4life. Do those GG AT2 weigh much or have much drag on them? Do steelies way that much?

Thank you for the picture! That sure will help me in my final decision.
Thank you.

well when you go up a size weight will go up for sure, and since it's a AT the drag will be more than your street tires now, but it's not that noticeable. GG at2 really impressed me, i only bought it because it was really really cheap but man i wheeled some of the hardest place with these tires, These are the only AT i would get on my truck.

Weight going up is a given, but for a 32 would you say it was ok?
*Cough Cough*
2wd :redbrick:
*Cough*
So I don't wheel "hard" But I do keep up with my friends jeep when we do go out (never been stuck), or even do better then most times then not. haha. But if you liked these wheeling, that can help me being a 2wd.

(ps, don't worry it will eventually be 4wd :thumb3:)

When you're getting advice on how tires will affect your acceleration, pay attention to where folks are posting from. I'm at just under 5000 feet and the 33s on my wife's '99 3.4/auto make it an absolute dog, almost as bad as the wimpy little 2.4 in my truck. We'll be going down at least one size when she's ready for new tires.

I wouldn't change size at all unless you need it for wheeling, and then I'd have new diff gears in the budget too.

I have the mild Toytec lift, and I just bought some 32's for my truck. I think they are a good compromise from the 33's , and no cutting/hammering required.

Thanks KidV, we are just about 5000 feet as well... hmmmm Thanks for chiming in, I definitely want to go bigger though.
why? to waste the rubber on pavement and get worse gas MPG because op spend 99% of his time DDing and 1% wheeling in 2wd?

Taken into consideration, thank you. :)
Because it seems like the OP cares more about what the truck looks like

That is true actually, lol. But I also would like it to perform. Thanks for posting!

Thank you for your reply, I don't mind the work at all if that is the route I go. :plane:

For what it's worth, I'd put some 32" AT's on it and leave it be - I think it would look great just with the simple tire change.
