Hello Everyone,

I am thinking about starting long term investing since Im 19. Thinking I could make life easier later on, by living without the amazing utility of my 4Runner for a decade or two while that cash ferments into something beautiful.


Question: What do you as an individual think that this 1999 4x4 4Runner will go for at 150,000k in the condition you see it in.

car wise, having a payment free vehicle is as good as it gets.
honestly with our 3rd gens and its low maintenance costs, in the long run the 3rd gen is a great investment.

Plan on turning a couple grand into millions ? Better off getting a second job or working a few hours overtime .

If you do sell replace it with something reliable or it could start costing you more in the long run !

Honestly, unless it is fully modded, a lot less than most T4R members think it will.

Assuming you are still in OK maybe $4-5k.

You should look it up in KBB.com and subtract about 15%

Also check CL. . People only think the trucks are worth more than KBB/CL when trying to get T4R lurkers to buy their truck.

But these trucks (in most parts of US) aren't rare and therefore not worth more than standard market.

I suggest you keep it and Don't mod it. Study hard in college, then work and earn the money you desire. You are only 19, correct.

BTW I'm not sure how much you know about investments but most CDs are pulling in 1-2% right now and the stock market? .... well we just finished a completely lost decade. Heck when I was in HS in 2000 the Dow was at 12,000. It isn't even high enough now to match that # plus inflation. To put it simple: just because wall street makes money on the market doesn't mean you will.

There's an old saying ('cause I'm an old guy): There's no car cheaper than the one you own. If you're going to drive anything (which I assume you are) you're probably money ahead to keep the T4R, unless you drive 50 miles each way to work or something.
