I'm anxiously awaiting the same Baja Rack from the TacomaWorld Group Buy. It will supposedly ship next week and it seems like Baja Rack has caught back up after the fire at the powder coat shop.



Any tips on the rack install or was it pretty straightforward? I'll try not to over-tighten based on your previous comment.

Thanks!! The install is straight forward. Everything comes with stickers noting where it goes. Make sure you have an in/lb torque wrench; the roof bolts are 55 in/lbs. I ended up with a couple minor roof dings during the install cause my help (wife) was too short ...no big deal to me. Use RTV liberally where it says to avoid leaks. I even put a bead on the roof bolt threads.

It's a solid rack. Love the low profile. Now just need to decide on what awning to order for soccer tailgating.

Until I can swing some nice ARBs, I started on cargo drawers 1.0. Can't beat $80 in lumber.















I found some decent and cheap adhesive backed carpet. Next will be the drawers. Then a few final touches.

To date ...$80 in lumber for the frame. $50 for carpet, hardware, wood screws, and anchor points. $50 to Amazon for a few add ons.

Overall I'm happy with it so far. It does scream, "the guy who built me is NOT a carpenter" ...but I like it and it'll do the job.

Got her covered in carpet and 4 point anchored into the cargo area. Just need to finish the drawers.

A failed first attempt at making drawers for my cargo box. Hats off to folks who have the carpentry skill, cause I doesn't.


Then my spirits rose when UPS showed up with my Gobi ladder.

And heavy duty tailgate shocks ...glad I ordered these, the stock shocks sucked with the ladder weight.

I found them on Trail Duty's web site. They're listed under Gobi Rack accessories. They work awesome ...they also raise the tailgate a few inches higher than the stock shocks.

Unattached box w/in a box. I have some adhesive teflon for friction reduction, but it's smooth enough that I really don't need to use it.
