Thanks! Yea I'm expecting this, last time I took it to get the oil changed the service writer at my dealership thought it was a Highlander. I asked him how many Highlanders he had seen with a 3 inch lift on 285's. He quickly corrected himself. Now I think I'll tell him it's a Land Cruiser/4Runner Limited/Trail/ FJ Hybrid that toyota only made 5 of. Just to mess with him. Should be entertaining.

The door handles and rear chrome piece are the next to go. Probably using some vinyl on the door handles and plasti-dipping the rear. Also have to take care of the limited badge somehow and remove my dealer badges/plate frames.

Looks good buddy! I like where you chose to start and end the color matching on the front bumper. Looks great!

Now you just need to find someone that wants to do a Limited conversion so you can sell the old parts.

Yea I think the paint up front really gives it that hybrid look. Thats a big part of the trail look so it makes you double take without it there.

Haha yea I would love to sell those parts, I just need to somehow convince someone the Limited body style is better than the trail....

As promised, here is a quick rundown of the trail edition conversion.


What You Need:
_________________________________________________________________

PARTS:

• All the parts listed in Harpers thread here.
  
• NOTE: Some of the part numbers have changed, most of them will just re-direct to the newer part numbers, but the front bumper cover has changed and this sometimes is hard to find. The new number is 52119-35910

CLIPS:

• Get about 20 of these: 75392-35200. You can steal a lot of them from your old pieces when you take them off. There is about 6 on each rocker panel, and 8 or 9 on the front and rear bumper, but it is still nice to have some extra so I would still buy a few. Don't get them at your dealer though, they will KILL you on the price, grab them here: Blue Retainers.
  
• You also need about 8-10 these: 52535-0E030. They hold the front valence on the front bumper cover. I wasn't able to find them online so I had to get them at my dealership, and they will probably have to order them.
  
• Get at least 2 boxes each of the following clips for the fenders:
  Blue Fender Clips
  Orange Fender Clips
  
• Also as Hbryanlopez said, don't waist your time trying to pop the fender liner retainers. There are a royal PITA. I just looked up the part and bought 30 of them. I can't find the part number becasue the diagram is different between toyotapartssales.com and harpers part diagrams that he posted. Here is the link to the part to buy online, get 30: Fender Liner Grommet
  
• Lastly, this is worth getting Toyota Clip Assortment.
  This is a variety of the most popular toyota clips, most of which are used on our truck. This is also just nice to have in your toolbox. Some of the fender retainers are in here as well. I used a few of these in places that required retainers for the TE that I didn't have leftover from my LTD pieces.

They were invaluable during the process and helped me out a lot with the research as well.In addition to those above, here is a list of other relevant threads/links that can help you out:

• Okki swapped his front fenders and rocker panels for TE parts and gives a good write-up that is worth a look here.
  
• Harper7 took a lot of pictures when he did his conversion. These are very helpful. Find them here and go through them a few times before starting. Look at the comments too, they will help as well.

Brief Walkthrough:

This project is much more intimidating than it is difficult. With that being said, it still required a good amount of experience and confidence in your ability. Do your research, take your time, and you will be very happy with the result.

This is the order that I did the conversion:



REAR:

Install Front and Rear Bumper Flares on front and rear bumper
Install Front Valence piece on front bumper

Remove L Rocker Panel
Remove R Rocker Panel
Remove Rear Bumper Cover

Install L and R Rear Bumper support on rear bumper cover

Remove L Bumper Bracket
Install L Bumper Bracket
Remove R Bumper Bracket
Instal R Bumper Bracket

Install Rear bumper
(Some adjustments have to be made here, two brackets have to be removed underneath the truck, but this is painfully obvious when you put the new rear bumper on)

Install L Rear Mudguard
Install R Rear Mudguard

Remove L Rear Fender Flare
Install L Rear Fender Flare

Remove L Rear Door Flare
Install L Rear Door Flare

Remove R Rear Fender Flare
Install R Rear Fender Flare

Remove R Rear Door Flare
Install R Rear Door Flare

FRONT:

Remove Front Bumper Cover (If you have never done this before, if can be a little tricky, Philsey has a good write-up here in his retrofit thread)

Remove L Front Fender Flare
Remove L Front Fender Liner
Install L Front Fender Liner
Install L Front Fender Flare
Install L Front Mud Guard
Install L Rocker Panel

Remove R Front Fender Flare
Remove R Front Fender Liner
Install R Front Fender Liner
Install R Front Fender Flare
Install R Front Mud Guard
Install R Rocker Panel

Install Front Bumper Cover (This is the most difficult part, not so much difficult, as you just have to get creative with how you re-connect things, there really isn't a great way to describe it, so on to the pictures!)


Rear bumper removed (as simple as it could be, just remove everything that looks like it's holding it on, it really is that simple)

Rear bumper bracket removed:

Comparison of LTD bumper support to trail (you can see the LTD support has a longer piece sticking out of it because the bumper sits so much lower)

Rear fender flare removed (These clips are like a rocket when you try and pop them out of the truck, so an easy way to get most of them out is to just grab a pair of pliers, rotate them 90 degrees, and they come right out, you will still have to pop a few though):

Fog's and DRL's installed in new bumper, and clips holding in flare on front bumper:

Front bumper, flare, and fender liner removed:

Installing new fender liner:

Front bumper support removed:

Done everything but the front bumper!

Here is the LTD lower bumper support bent back to accommodate the higher bumper of the trail. Just bend it with your hand, drill a new hole, and you're golden.

I toyed with the idea of adding these vertical LED DRL's I got from Amazon. Didn't really LOVE them, so I left them out. Maybe later.

Here is the underside completed on one side. I used a push connector to hold the corner of the bumper to the fender liner, it used to be a clip but this worked much better. Also I drilled a new hole into the support to hold the bumper, and used a zip tie to hold the fender liner back to stop rubbing.

Definitely couldn't have done it if you hadn't first! I wouldn't have even thought it was possible. So thanks for doing 90% of the legwork! And I think both the BP and Silver look the best as the TE's, the BP just has the benefit of being unique.
