No the skids came without the instructions, i was looking on Bud's website and it said there. The hardest part i had is to tightened the brackets for gas tank, because it was hard to reach some places, but very do able. Overall i'm very impress and i would recommend using a body to install it. If they came before Jan 14, i can help you install them. Shoot me pm if they came before.

If all 5th gens came stock like that, then we'd be talking! That white on black with blacked out head lights is what really pulls me in. Hopefully you'll be nominated next year i'll be keeping my eyes open.

Jango, I'm new to the forum and searching for lots of inspiration for my 2014 super white SR5. Your truck and build thread is hands down the most impressive thing I've seen on here!! I echo your thoughts of aiming for something clean and subtle first and foremost. Looking forward to trying my best to do some similar things one by one. I want to be a storm trooper when I grow up, thanks for the inspiration!

Budbuilt skids got delivered the very same day I had to leave home, so I will have to wait to put those one for several weeks. I am very impressed with them though - they are super beefy!
This weekend I am dropping my truck off for the week with a one man shop in Western Maryland who does custom audio/dash work. He's going to completely overhaul the stock JBL system, redo the dash to fit my iPad, and possible add a few other little things too...
I'm super excited to see how it comes out!

Dropped off my truck this morning at Hinnant Design in Western Maryland. Really impressed with him so far. He's a one man show that does custom audio installs on all kinds of stuff. He does really high quality work.

Some progress pics!
This is the new slider kit from SoundMan in CA. it's not like the old one that has the open side that you slide the iPad into. This lets you put the iPad in at an angle, and then slide it into the charge port. Once it is connected it uses magnets from the smart cover glued to the back and the bezel to stay in place. It's a really impressive design.
I'm glad he found a way to keep the hazard button in place by moving the iPad a bit lower.

Yes there will be a Sony MEX-GS600BT installed as well so I can keep my steering wheel controls, and use the app remote feature of the sony headunits. I was originally just going to get the iPad done, but I like this companies past work so I ended up doing a whole build with them. They are reworking all the audio and adding a second monitor in the dash to use for a surround view camera system as well.
You and me both! Should take about a week to finish, but I'm super excited to get it back and see how it all looks and sounds!

I have that head unit on my Camry!!! The app control works really well! Especially for you, since it will be static connection... It works great with Pandora, am/fm and on device music. I can't wait to see pics and review of end result.
Any more details about the surround view camera? Are they going to mount on the side mirrors? Where will the second monitor sit?
Are you going to use a mifi to access web related items on your ipad?
I would love to do a similar set up using a Samsung note 8.0.

Awesome! From what I was reading that seemed to be the best choice for this setup. I think I'm going to sell my original iPad mini and pickup one of the new retina versions with 4G. Then the iPad can be connected whenever, and I can run a hotspot from the iPad to connect other devices in the car.
I've been interested in surround view camera systems for a while. I test drove a BMW with my mom about 2 years ago and they had a top town camera system that was just unbelievable. It was like having a helicopter fly above you and send video to your car at all times. You could park literally by only looking at the in dash screen, it was awesome. I've kept an eye out for aftermarket versions for a while and they are just starting to come out. I went with this one here: 360° Surround View 4-CH DVR System. It uses four 180 degree cameras and stitches the image together. It also functions as a DVR so it's like having a surround view dash camera. Well worth the money in my opinion. Theres a few videos on YouTube of it and it looks great.

Sounds like a perfect solution and I may copy you if it all turns out sweet! You can also download Motion X GPS and have full GPS with satellite image or topi coverage when off road and since the LTE model has a GPS chip, you can plot routes etc. You can download and store the maps locally if you don’t have cell coverage (I use my cell phone and don’t pay more for the LTE on the iPad - just tether to your phone via wifi).

I'm super excited for it. I've been thinking about how to set this up for a long time so I'm glad it's finally happening. I will definitely be using the Motion X GPS app to save maps locally. I need the hotspot to come from the iPad instead of the phone as I'm planning on adding a Raspberry Pi to control my lights as well and it needs to connect to the iPad so I can use that for the interface. I'll be updating with lots of videos and pictures as this project progresses!
Some more pictures before paint! He uses what he calls "liquid ABS" instead of traditional bondo. It creates a more durable and solid finish that is less likely to crack.
It keeps a really low profile and fits almost perfectly to the factory dash lines. Big fan!
