I got a really nice roof rack from a friend of mine but was on a jeep so wasn't too crazy about how it looked on the 4runner so I decided to take it apart and cut 2 inches out of the legs so it wasn't so high. It also had a shield in the front that I did away with to accommodate a 40 inch light bar in the near future. Gave it a coat of undercoating and then some semi gloss engine paint, I am happy with the way it came out. Now I got it baking in the guestroom cause it's in the teens outside,lol.

Here ya go- had to have my father scan this and send it to me lol... I was 14 in this picture.
The deer is a 5x7 mule deer. He was with a group of about 5 does, and another BIG buck that was much wider than this one (he measures 27" at his widest point) but being young and dumb, I shot the one that looked like he had a bush on his head.
I spotted them nearly a mile away and sat there watching them stroll toward me for over an hour, but I was unable to get ahold of my father via radio to get the other one. Waited as long as I could, then opened fire as they walked through the bottom of the canyon in front of me.

What a great buck, he has some really deep forks doesn't he! Congratulations
Cool Thread! I love my mud terrains as well. I haven't had to use them in the snow but maybe 3 times but don't have much to compare them to in that regard. Everywhere else I have been very happy with the performance

My brother in law w/ 7mm Saturday morning
My father w/ .257 WBY Mag Sunday morning
I spotted both of these deer early Saturday, but I was not carrying a rifle so my brother in law shot the fatter of the two. The next morning we found the other in nearly exactly the same spot, same time. About 100 feet away.

Looks like your 4runner started out life in the Northeast. New York actually. Might want to give that undercarriage a glance unless its been in the southwest most of its life.

Yeah, I crawled under it before I bought it and it does have some rust but not bad, should be easy to take care of.

I've done a couple searches on this but haven't really found a way that I am 100% sold on, I am installing a light bar on my roof rack tomorrow and am wondering whats the best way to get the wires ran. I found where others have run it thru a hole under the front roof cap of the rails, some have done it thru the hatch, and some down the door, and some down the windshield edge. I want something that will be super clean. So far the one on the top of my list is the one that goes under the cap and run thru the headliner. Any ideas or input will be greatly appreciated. Oh, my rack doesn't go all the way to the front, it dies behind the sun roof. Thanks

So today I changed out the rear o2 sensor on the runner, the previous owner had changed out the upper one within the last year. There was literally 10 percent of the nuts left holding it on, the rest had rotted. I really got a good look at the undercarriage and it doesn't look bad at all, mainly just little rust on nuts etc. No major rust damage which I was worried about being that it was in NY for a few years before coming to NM.

Neither, actually. He fell down a small hillside and landed on a dead juniper. A branch found it's way in there.

Finished mounting my roof rack today, ended up mounting a 20" light bar in the middle, will probably put a couple smaller ones on each side to fill in the sides, shoulda got a 32" or 40" but oh well. Also wasn't too happy with the location I had to mount it at, wanted the light to sit between the two bars but will need to weld a couple brackets when I put the other lights. Overall i am happy with the way everything stayed, rack looks alot better shopped 2 inches imo.
