I had been wanting to spice up the stereo in the runner so last week I was at Pep Boys and saw a Amplified Bazooka Base Tube for $150 so I said perfect, not to expensive and should be just enough to bring the stereo to life. I still remember my cousin had a sweet 3rd gen brand spankin new, was probably a 96 cause it was like 10 years ago, anyway he had one of these in it and it sounded really good. Well over the weekend I started tearing into it to install and surprise, surprise, the factory stereo didn't have rca jacks, dugh...I didn't even think about that. So I went to Audio Express to buy one of those adapters that go from speaker wire to the rca's and ended up buying a new stereo.

After installing everything i was getting power but no sound and ended up giving up for the day. I posted a help thread and a lot of people chimed in, thanks guys. The next morning i followed some of they're direction and went over the wiring diagrams again and found out that I hadn't connected it right. Turns out I had all the right parts just had to read the wiring instructions a little closer. So the jvc harness only has one wire (blue & white) that is the amp & antenna while the adapter harness had 2, one blue & white which was the amp and a solid blue which was the antenna. After looking at the wiring diagrams again it said to combine both blues from adapter and connect to single blue & white on the jvc harness shown on the picture below where the pink arrow is. After that I had sound. The other thing that will interest you guys is the adapter I bought does go to the factory amp so I wasn't able to bypass it like you all suggested. Not sure if it would sound better with the factory amp or without it but sounds pretty dam good, alot better than the factory. I also hooked up an amplified bazooka bass tube and it brought it all to life. I will post a pic of the package to that adapter in case anyone needs it in the future. Thanks to all who gave me direction, I really appreciate it, hopefully this will help some one else.

Did some maintenance on the runner, changed out spark plugs, wires, installed a new radiator (that I ordered from summit racing and is a piece of shit btw, but have had it over 60 days so I can't return it), and a new battery.

I haven't really used it much other than just trying it out in the driveway but from that, it is really nice. the only thing that's giving me a stomach ache is knowing you got the same one for $100, lol. I paid $300 for the stereo and wiring harness adapter...with the deck and subwoofer upgrade, its night and day from the factory unit, I'm sure you'll be happy with it, especially for that price, good find man! I still have my dash torn apart because I sent my climate control to one of the members to get overhauled, its at the post office now so hopefully tonight I can get everything back in order.

Yeah but I've actually enjoyed working on it, I'm learning my vehicle more and more everyday. This forum is a life saver with all the people that take the time to post info on how to do things are saints, it makes a job that much easier so I try and post any info I can hoping to help others as well. Last night I did a transmission drain and fill. Didn't drop the pan just drained what I could out of the drain plug although looking at the oil that came out I just might do that. I took out about 4.5 quarts and replaced it. I plan on driving it a couple times to work then draining it again, see if I can clean it up that way. I couldn't believe how bad the oil was, it literally looked like burnt motor oil, I was even second guessing myself, making sure I had drained the right fluid. I would say that had to have been the original tranny fluid, it was nasty.

:yo::nicethread: Everything is looking good looks like you just finished up what I just finished up with a new stereo... Question on your climate control did the work u have done repair the function of your control unite or did u just add new leds

Thanks SRR1, yes it did repair the function of it, before my buttons wouldn't work or would work when they felt like it, I'm not sure what he did but its night and day, buttons work smooth and actually do what you want it to. Before I think when I would change settings it would actually stay stuck on something else, I can notice a big difference, and for $50some dollars with shipping, its well worth it. If you need yours repaired his name is John and he is a member here, great experience with him all the way thru. If you need his info let me know.

Cool thanks for the update I think I may have already talked to him by mistake and back out because the weather for the time being was being interesting here.... What your over all plans for your ride are going full out everything or are u going for something simple
