JBL Synthesis and iPod/iPhone connectivity?

Finding a module/kit is fairly easy. Most are plug and play. Make sure it's compatabe with the JBL, again, most are. Depending on what you want:
1) just to hear the music, you can add an "aux" jack (audio in)
2) Full integration (reading the music titles on the screen and controlling the iPod/iPhone from your radio).
For the full integration, you can use : USA-SPEC PA15 TOYOTA or DICE electronics Mediabridge
The dice mediabridge is more expensive, but seems to be a little more diverse in that you can add a USB device to listen to your music. The 1500 adds bluetooth if that interests you. Some made a simple "audio/aux" in for their radio, but I can't find the thread......
Thanks CookieRoe. Regarding the first option, what exactly do I need to do? Does the HU need to be taken apart? I want to keep it simple for now until I have the funds to replace the whole HU with something like an Eclipse AVN-726E.

Sorry, I still can't find the thread. But many are with aftermarket radios. The mod includes just tapping into the wires at the back of the HU, then running wires to the center console and having the plug installed there. No need to open the HU apart.
Thanks for the clarification, but that still means taking out the HU does it not? (Plugging it into the back of the radio)
I guess what you guys are indirectly saying is that taking out the HU is relatively simple?
Is there any DIY article on this that you're aware of?

Oh yes definitely. Taking the HU out and plugging in the new plugs is very easy. If you are a little mechanically inclined, taking the interior apart is easy. Here is a link that should help you:

First time i did it, it took me about 10 minutes. Just be careful when pulling clips (don't force it).

Hahah, me too. I have to "open her up" again. I never connected the voice nav (couple of wires that run from the HU to the amp at the back) or the rear camera. I want to install a similar unit that you are interested in. I'm looking at the Mediabridge 1500 for Toyotas. I never got the bluetooth to function, so this kit should get me up and running! When it hits 70 again, I'll be tearing the interior apart again.

Where does the white unit fit in? Is there room where the head unit is located? or does the white box have to bolted somewhere?

White unit? Do you mean the mediabridge "box"? Near the headunit there isn't a ton of room, but try the upper part of the glovebox (where the owners manual is supposed to go). Mediabridge allows you to plug in a lot of different media (USB). Doesn't have to be bolted in anyway as long as it's snug somewhere where it won't rattle.

I love my USA-spec adapter with my JBL factory unit, Works wonders!! I placed my white box beneath the radio kind of down behind the cup holders, there is room there, the cords are plenty log enough. The phone cord runs under center console into the storage box, I open the center console to pull the cord out and hook up!
