3rd time in 3 years this company has stated they would change their ways... and the 1st time they were training employees how not to get caught... Sounds like a great company to me!

I would avoid Jiffy Lube at all costs.

I don't know if any other chains are any better. I had to tell a Valvoline Instant Oil Change to stop checking the air filter on my Mustang because they would always put the air box back together wrong cutting off most of the air flow to then engine. They just don't care.

This is why you should do your own maintenance. Those scamartist know that the majority of customers who take their cars to those type of establishments don't know a wrench from a screwdriver.

It's always a good thing to catch a thief.

You have to question the overall ethics of Jiffy Lube if the district manager will not even own up that he is the manager.

I do all my own service because of this type of baloney.

I can't imagine why anyone would even go to a Jiffy Lube in LA after seeing that report. How do they stay in business or why isn't the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General involved?

At first I was going to give Juffy Lube the benefit of the doubt and blame the district manager, who was obviously a sleazeball. After watching the next two reports I'm not so sure.

Like many people here, I do my own work so I don't have to worry about places like this...

I have been doing my own serviceing since 1960 (steam powered - just kidding). My '89 Camry with 250K Kms never saw the inside of a shop, I traded it for for the 4 Runner. It was running perfectly and in great shape. Only service I let the dealer do is service under warranty, even then I check their work when I get the truck back and I have found things wrong.

A local news station investigated several Jiffy Lube locations in Southern California and provided very compelling evidence that they were charging customers for work that was not done. Work such as fuel filter changes (the expensive type that require fuel tank removal), transmission flushes, and oil changes. The district manager was clearly aware of what was going on and told ridiculous lies on camera. The report suggested corruption at higher levels of the company but didn't offer any real proof.

I think you guys probably already realize this but it is not just Jiffy Lube that gets away with this. I personally caught one of my local Toyota dealerships doing something similar but even worse. I had my wife's shocks replaced on her 4Runner (this was approx. 5 years ago). Not only did the dealership not replace the shocks but they charged my wife double the normal price. Long story short...I became livid and ofcourse got all my money back but it took many phone calls to management. Turns out they never even had a spring compressor at the dealership. So how were they even replacing other owner's shocks/struts? I never went back. I do ALL my own maintenance now...lol.

I never go to their places to change oil anyway. It's almost a crapshoot.

As for JiffyLube, IMO, ain't damn thing going to change.

For the folks who don't service their own vehicles, you can always ask back for the old part. But now it becomes is that a part from your car or someone else's. I usually try and go someplace where I can watch them.

If you have a place where you can work on your car, it's worth it to do it yourself. I rather screw something up myself than let some clown like JiffyLube screw up and try and cover it up. Someone here mentioned that they forgot to put oil in an engine before it blew up.
