It's only pay if the rangers stop you. You can drive right past the cottonwood station. We used to do it all the time to make sure we got a campsite then circle back around and grab our permits. Pinkham drops out right across the street from it anyway.

There's a wash you might not get it across. I've got one group coming Friday morning that's pulling a pop-up tent trailer. He'll be the test. Anything bigger though likely won't make it. [MENTION=59079]jdemello[/MENTION] is gonna park his Rv somewhere along gold crown rd though so you can always post up with him if you can't make it all the way.

Yeah, my Jayco Baja is the 18' model, its got decent clearance, but my departure angle is crap with it (duh). I would like to see where I can drag it (without breaking anything). I'll probably set up by Gold Crown Rd then.

You could get it to the wash and post up right there you would still close enough to the main area it's not that far.

I can't access the link you posted, but I think I found the trails. It would definitely be more direct for the later start, and more importantly, less pavement.

I've got a milk crate full of 2x4 scraps (and then some) for the weekend. I'll probably load up some more tomorrow.

I can't sit this one out! I just wrapped up another term and this looks like an awesome weekend. I'm thinking of pulling my Jayco Baja up to camp in.

You are more than welcome to camp with us. I'm going to head down the road and see how far I can get and find a spot. We are way to big to fit down a wash.

Let me know when you are coming up if you want to caravan. We are leaving at 9am from corona on Friday.

Much appreciated! I probably won't be able to caravan though. If I can get the family to come along, we'll head up Fri afternoon from Beaumont. If they don't want to come, I work up in 29 Palms Thurs night, so I'll just take my rig/trailer up then and meet y'all at the wash Fri.

I'll be at camp around 6ish tomorrow evening if you want to roll out after work, monitoring 146.460. May not pickup any handheld transmissions until you're close though since we didn't think to check range from Gold Crown to Camp while we were there.

Very unlikely you're going to have much is any cell service once you leave the 62 in the north or 10 in the south. JT is a dark zone. The 62 is only 13 miles (10 or 20 mins depending on how fast you're bombing the road) if you're expecting someone.
