i just want my build thread back..
I started a thread.. put ALOT of pics and work into it... And not by my initiative the thread was put in featured 4runners...
and now the thread is deleted !
I did not pursue this...
this sucks
I do not want to ruin the thread for thread author. nice ride !

hey bro great looking 4runner! i was hoping you could clarify the lift mods. i just got a Runner and im looking to lift. also did you have to trim to fit those tires?

This past weekend I finally got around to replacing my timing belt, by the way I have 210k and this is the first time it has ever been replaced! :jaw drop: I know I know, but I had peeked at it about a year ago (removed the cover) and it looked OK...not great, but OK.
In addition I also replaced the water pump, thermostat, all the belts and hoses, and the bearings and tensioner for the Timing belt. Everything went pretty smoothly, although I did have a hell of a time removing the crank shaft pulley, had to make my own tool just like everyone else, but I broke two 3/8 drive breaker bars (the square 3/8 drive part broke, not the handle obvisously) before I went to the store and bought a 1/2 drive 19mm socket and 1/2 drive breaker bar; that and a cheater pipe finaly got that bolt loose. I was so worried I was going to break that bolt with all the force I had to put on it.
I didnt take any pictures as there are plenty of write ups on replacing the timing belt.

Nice rig! I'm planning on running the same BFG 285/75's on mine with my toytec ultimate lift and 1.5" spacers, did you get those tires before or after your front bumper install? All the research I've done thus far looking for rigs running these tires have nearly always had a front bumper upgrade or the photos with the stock bumper are not at good angles to see the gap. Any info is much appreciated. I plan a bumper upgrade in the coming months, just need to get my paper up and want to keep the bumper rub to a minimum until then.

Well, first you wont need any spacers with the Toytec ultimate lift. The ultimate lift comes with adjustable front coilovers and your a couple of choices of OME springs for the rear.
And I did get the tires after I had the bumper, but I would recommend trimming the bumper and the pinch weld to fit this size tire. I did.

I meant to say wheel spacers, not sure if thats what you were referring to or not, I was under the impression that without spacing the tire sidewall would rub on the control arms. I am in need of some new rubber but would you recommend waiting until after the bumper install?

Ok, gotcha. Yeah I do not have wheel spacers, and my tires do rub ever so slightly on the UCA under flex, not a big deal to me.
No I wouldnt wait if you need new tires now, especailly if you are going to replace the front bumper anyways then you wont mind trimming it a bit if you have to. Dont forget, you may need to hammer the pinch weld flat too, not everyone has too, but I did.
I did the same thing when I replaced mine and had similar problems. Once I finally removed the bolt, I had to use a pulley puller to remove the pulley. It was a pain.

Yeah, I had a pulley puller, but once the bolt was out the pulley slipped right off with the use of the puller.

JS, looks great. That thing is looking sexy.
I love your rear bumper design. Simple is best. It blends great with your wheel well flares (at least in the pics it does).
