July 2011 Meet

Dave,
Most of the runs will be scheduled for Saturdays like this one tomorrow. We got a huge group together in June with 33 Runners from 2nd-5th gen. We decided then that we will try to do a monthly meet and post here in the So Cal section. What I would do is go to section tools and subscribe to the So Cal section and recieve weekly updates. That way you will be notified once a week of new postings and threads. Smaller runs will still be posted by other members probably in the generation sections but there will be at least one monthly run scheduled in the So Cal section.

Thanks Pikeman I will try to make it in August. I am actually helping lead a 4x4 trip in Big Bear tommorow with my church 4x4club or I would throw my hat in here. We are doing some more mild stuff 2n93 3n09 3n16. If I hadnt help orgainize it I would bail on that and join you guys.

See ya next month. Thanks for the heads up on the email feature I had never seen that option before. Subscribed. Make it a safe and fun day tommorow!

Dave

Have fun on the run.

I'll be biking in the Santa Monica mnts this weekend. Dont feel like fighting the traffic to get passed the 405 and 10.

See you guys for the August ride.

Sorry guys i will have to be counted out tomorrow, wife reminded me of something we had planned.... Dangit!

Well I know that there are still some of you out on the trail but I only had to drive back to Big Bear this time so a few quick pics were necessary. These are of the group that did the harder trail on Pilot Rock (2N17X). I am open/open and was not able to focus on getting many or even good photos because I was busy trying to not flop or brake a cv.

I had a great time with you guys and hope the second runs of the day went well and with out too much damage. It is good I left when I did, my wife is pretty sick right now.

so here they are

Like I said not great shots but a teaser until the others get home. I'm sure there will be at least one or two of me getting pulled up and outta trouble. Thank you again to those guys who helped pull me out and gave me direction and pointers.

Jimmy's truck was having issues before we even left and the trail brought them out. He swapped out his cv after it broke but there seems to be something else going on under there. Besides him I am sure the rest of us had fun. It was a gorgeous day to be wheeling and I know I had a blast. Wish you could of made it, next time.

It was a great day today. Brian2sun, Drifter, Proudrunner and myself continued on to Dishpan and then to Holcomb Creek. We met up with a 1st gen guy that joined us for dishpan and Holcomb. We got seperated on Holcomb by some Jeeps that wouldnt let him pass after the 4 of us passed. We waited for about an hour and still no sign so we continued on. No carnage except for Jimmy's front diff is grenaded.

I had a blast... I hate love that trail..I have probably ran that trail 20 times over the past 6-7 years. It changes every year after the rains/ snow. I have crawled the Hammer and just about every difficult trail in SOCAL and that trail still get my blood pumping.. Did I every mention I hate hills :)

The CV wasn't even broken but had some weird wiggle in it. So I swapped out the CV and well that didn't fix my issues.

Now I can rationalize the SAS :guitar3: I actually feel bad that everybody had to wait up for me. I think I changed that CV pretty quick ( Thanks Jay/Jaymoney... I think my clam shell is toast.. Well if it wasn't the 15 freeway made it toast :)
Jaymoney thanks for the tug out.. Those hills were interesting getting out in 2 WD.. I mad it to the last one and after 4 assaults on that hill called for help before I broke something else.

Just got home after a long day. Had so much fun! I only had the camera phone but here are a couple from the end of the first run. I wish I could have stayed and enjoyed the scenery but I had to go after that. More to come soon, hopefully I don't KO before I get some of these files uploaded first.

EDIT: Few more pictures. I didn't take too many because I didn't want to slow the group down too much and I was only using camera phone.

‪2N17X Entrance‬‏ - YouTube
I was freaking out when I first saw the entrance to 2N17X. Then right before my turn to go up, one of our guys got into a "slippery situation". Here's the video of him getting out. Listen to all our relief as he escapes without damage.

Obviously I am glad that I made it with out breaking anything but I can only imagine the thoughts going through your head after seeing that and knowing you were next. Of course you rocked it all day and didn't need a strap.

edit: Cool shot of your 4Runner with the lake in the background

Then we decided to run up to Holcomb Creek!
