Anyone planning on camping? Was also thinking about maybe renting a cabin in the area and coming up Friday night. If I stay all weekend and if I can get my ex to drive up the mountain to pick up our son on Sunday (she lives in Highland at the base), I might also do some more wheeling on Sunday. Green Valley Campground is booked solid for that weekend so we'll be looking for yellow post sites for sure. Anyone in for sharing a cabin?

NO WAY!?!! Get the F... Outta here!! You pulled the trigger well hot damn brotha I would have thought for sure you would have bought Spindle's before the locker. But with Spindle's you must have realized tires would be needed as well which for both is $1600 versus the locker $300 bucks.hahaha
Plus your probably done with having to spin to win your tires up things, lol.
Well I'm super stoked for you and I will say this..
You have respectfully earned getting a locker. To have completed all these runs/trails successfully in your rig which compared to ANY and All rigs from any of these runs thus far ...you have the most handicap/disadvantage ...on paper you would be considered the weakest link on every group run and considered the least likely to make it.
Don't know if you have realized that...But thumbs up to you brotha, I'm proud of what you have accomplished where others have struggled. You've never backed down or opted to go the easy way.
You understand and found what your happy medium throttle all the way through is and realize how far that will get you now. That's our 4wd keeping our tires moving at the same rate. Don't over throttle and don't let off or hesitate on the throttle. All of which you have successfully learned.
Well you just tell me when that damn thing is arriving at your door and I will be there to recieve it and install it with you, brotha. No problem!!
Food for thought this would be the best time to re-gear if you have planned on ever doing so ..I don't think you want to tear down and open up your entire rear end again anytime soon. Do it now if your gonna do it..new ring and pinion roughly $150-$200 bucks. Locker + Re-Gear = peace of mind X years X 100k miles X more Mpg's = saving $ on gas

Thanks Man! I learned from the best! Everything I've learned is from you bro. I was a little tired of the rear spinning going up. It was a toss up of what would be more beneficial spindles/rear springs or locker...hence locker decision. Next would be spindle/rear springs then new six shooter and 285's. You made a good point about re-gearing. What should I look for? I don't want to do this twice. I want to order it to get it here with the locker.

I personally would go with a 4.56 using a 285 tire ..that will make you correct with your speedometer and put you back where you should be. And it gives you a little extra pulling power when loaded down or towing.
See what they have to offer from where you got the locker from.
I just came across one of the vendors had a set on clearance for our rig and it really caught my attention ..shoot let me look I think I might have saved it or bookmarked it. Since you got the Spartan Locker look at Yukon for the 4.56 ring & pinion gear kit for 8" Toyota Diff .... they will go good together since Yukon makes the Spartan.
Good company's for gears I've noticed are ..low range offroad, LCE engineering,
Wait I remember ...I seen it on MetalTechs site in the "scratch n dent" section I believe they are Nitro Gears 4.56 for Toyota 8" I think for $190 But I'm sure if you call them they will probably give you another 20% off. It's a last one kinda thing ..old dusty box found sitting on a top shelf so just getting rid of it.

@ 9:00am Crab Flats Trail Head There is a large area right off the road where can all fit and meet up and have a brief meeting before hitting the trails.

You are the shiznit Miah! I started researching gears and began to get confused with 4.10, 4.56 and 4.88 gears. But with inc info, it started to make sense. I'll give the company I bought the lockers a call and call metaltech. I better be able to climb a tree after this!!! HAHA!

I don't really have any mods, just got done with new axle seals and bearings. Clean/replace and or move your diff breather valves!

I didn't really, I usually hit it with a rubber mallet and just run it like that lol. I might be showing up with a new homemade bumper and sliders by this run

I've got LCAs coming, might have those 2.5 icons within two weeks, and I have all the stuff for the breather mod. I'm free in 2 weeks if I have those icons hahah.

Whatchu talkin about Willis? When did the whole 2.5 Icons come into play on needing to replace your LCA's and tie rods? So are they going to be for the front or the rear?
