Just another light bar in grill

Finally got around to installing my 33" outbreak expedition led bar. I'll be wiring two switches where the seat heater switches would be (don't have heaters and probably never will). I did trim the grill around the light bar, my brackets I made ended up pushing the grill forward a little but it's not that bad.

Don't wait up for an install thread, to lazy to do it and I never take many pictures during the build/install....to busy drinking for that lol.

(My pic taking skills suck, I'm way off level!)

How long would you say it took you to build this?

Well I used some scrap aluminum c channel for the mounts, similar to saker's. Considering I had to custom fit everything, aseveral hours (spread over several days, kids will do that to your mod schedule lol).

Was it difficult to make the cuts in the grill?

Looks pretty good to me!
Did your cuts in your grill turn out smooth?

They did, but, I didn't foresee my mounts pushing the grill out so you can see where I shaved the bottom part of the plastic grill. It's not pretty but if your staring at the lights you won't notice it!

cool install.

But let me get this straight, you made a post about your awesome behind the grill light bar set up - which looks great BTW, but are too lazy (as you stated) to post any specifics of the install itself to actually be beneficial to anyone? Why bother?

I have to stop drinking scotch and browsing this forum. This place is mostly worthless unless Marshall, Antman or engineer1 post.

Rant over, potentially a great install, but we'll never know!

Are you actually upset that a guy posted about fitting a lightbar in the grill (one of many posts on the matter) and didn't hold your hand and show you exactly how to do it with step by step photos? If you really require detailed assembly instructions for something go buy a box of Lego. Or you could probably spend less time browsing the forum (as you stated) and go out to the driveway and figure out how to do the mod for yourself.

WOW.....

There are a lot of members here that contribute quality posts and write-ups other than, marshall, Antman or 1engineer. Nothing against those mentioned at all, so not discounting them, as they definately contribute a lot here. A lot of data can be gleaned from this website.....

If this place is mostly worthless, then, bye !

My point is that I enjoy seeing everyones hard work and ingenuity and fine craftsmanship. This forum is a great place to showcase that, but show us!This is the chance to brag and give other people great ideas that they may not have thought of before or a chance to re-work a system they have already installed.

I've already installed a light bar behind my grill, its not great, but it works. I came here for more pictures and other ideas. There is a reason there's an emoticon that says "This Thread is Worthless without pictures"

Again though, cool instal, not bashing the OP for installing a light bar or modding his rig the way he wants it. I like it and think it looks very clean, but would love to see more.

It's a lightbar in a grill, it's been done over like the dead horse. if people can't figure it out on their own based off of others "well documented" threads then they have no business doing so.

With the light bar installed I held the grill up in place and marked where I wanted to cut. Used a jigsaw, the dremel was at a weird angle.

Thanks, but I didn't ask my question well.

What I was trying to ask is: did you put some kind of trim on the grill and surrounding the light?

I cannot really tell from your picture and I'm trying to come up with a good solution as I'm going to be doing this mod soon.

My first mod btw, just got the truck a few days ago.

He just cut the grill to fit up against his light bar as close a possible, from what I can see and his description.

Are you thinking about doing something like this to trim your light or something else in mind?

Yes, I'm thinking of doing something like that in your picture. Something to 'clean up' the surround and strength the grill where it has been cut.
