Just bought my 06 T4R SR5 off Lease

I just bought my 2006 SR5 off lease for (using round numbers):

16700(buyout price) + 500 (dealer fee) + 2000 (5 yr/60k warranty) + 700 (gap insurance) + 400 (misc fees) + 1300 (taxes) = $21,600

I got a 6yr loan @6%.

It in great condition, only 36k miles and has been very reliable. I just wonder if I got smoked on the warranty @$2k for 5yr/60k (i wonder if it's really worth it).. And of course the $500 dealer fee is ridiculous. But all in all, I feel like I got a did well. They had comprable T4R on the lot w/ more miles for upwards of 24k-25k before taxes and all that other junk.

Oh, and free lifetime oil changes from the dealer.

How do you all think I did?

Good decision to buy the vehicle off-lease with that low mileage. Good luck and have fun!

Purchase price is very good!

Ridiculous as you mentioned the $500.00 fee.

Using the extended warranty thread(s) and prices that have been posted here on the forum, I expect to be paying in a few weeks one of the following choices:

7years/75K: $510.00

7 years/100K: $835.00

There are six and eight year plans also available. Don't know which one I'll sign up for re: the Platinum Warranty zero deductible.

The plan I got was the Platinum directly from Toyota 5yr/60k mile for $2000... no ded.. So it will put me out to 97k miles on the car, or 11/30/2014...

Are these other cheaper plans Toyota backed or outside companies? If Toyota I'm going to have to get some rates on paper and march back in there.

Thanks for the heads up...

The quotes given to me are direct from Toyota, their plan(s), Platinum/zero deductible.

Thank you for this info...

Did you go to a specific website or did you just call Toyota Finance? Looking for a direction.

Now I'm getting a little upset because I haggled for about 40 minutes to get them down from $2300 for the 5yr/60k mile... and then when I told them I didn't want it at all, he came down to $2000..

There was a long thread earlier this year or late last year re: extended warranty. I took the prices from the post(s) and then went to my dealer and spoke with the GM who's a friend of mine. They 'owed me a favor' and we reviewed the prices. Two weeks ago I saw the finance manager and he confirmed he got the 'go ahead' to basically do any of the extended warranties at the discounts I posted.

There's a TON of profit in the extended warranties and with the five hundred 'fee' they charged you and the 6% interest (remember, they're borrowing at less than 1%), they got their profit out of the deal... even with the low price of the vehicle off-lease itself.

Do a search on the forum and you'll fins the thread(s) re: extended warranties and prices.

you should get a refund for the warranty. i got my 7yr/75k toyota platinum warranty for around $500 from a contact on this site.

I'm in a similar situation. And unless something better comes up, I will probably buy my 2007 Sport off lease in March 2010.

Toyota Service Agreement quoted by the dealer today based on my 4runner already having 60k miles:

Platinum 4yr/50k - $2500 (I actually laughed out loud)
Gold 4yr/50k - $2000
Pwr Train 2yr/24k - $1375

About purchasing: I have the option of buying direct from Toyota finance and avoid the $575 dealer fee and $500 misc. charges. Of course this involves a little more work on my part like DMV and arranging financing.

I'd highly recommend putting a little less cash into the deal and hold some aside to purchase the extended warranty (if that's your choice). Shopping the warranty, with cash in hand, is how we scored the aforementioned pricing.
