Hey Chaz-

Kinda curious why you say that regular bulbs are better than LED's for back up lights. The LED brake lights on my rig pretty much light up everyone and everything in the front seat of the vehicle behind me at a stoplight.

I can understand the design of the reflector play a major role in the output of light, but LED's (for the most part) are brighter and more efficient.

Is there something I am overlooking?

because basicly leds fire forward only, even when they have the design to simulate a round bulb , the pattern is still not as good. u can find some old threads on the use of leds swapped in to the backup lights. so a 55 watt bulb in an xtra set of backup lights is the best way to go,they have a nice wide pattern, or u could replace the 55s with 100s like this guy did. plenty bright! http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-g...everse-backup-lights-installed-lots-pics.html

its worth while, even some of the cheapo 10 buc ones off ebay arent bad. when mine go ill switch to those small stealth ones

x2! I put LEDs in my 06 tails and they absolutely sucked! About all they accomplished was looking cool. Swapped back to regular bulbs the same night. Aux reverse lights are def the way to go.
