Just found out last night that I can connect my iphone thru the aux

yep! very nice feature. Driving around talking on the iPhone "hands free" is a major plus in my book.

EDIT: my phone is synced via bluetooth with my nav unit. I just read your post more carefully and noted you were doing so via the AUX jack. Nice work. I guess I shouldn't read through posts so quickly next time

I just picked up my 06 a week ago and found this out yesterday!! Very cool!

The other thing that caught me by surprise is the wind deflector changes depending on speed. At first I thought something was broke!

Soo happy to be out of my American junk and back into a Toyota! Now my entire garage is Toyota and Lexus!

I'm not sure I follow. You connect the iPhone headphone out to the Aux in in the center console and this allows you to make calls through your radio? Please explain. It's a headphone jack line-in to my knowledge - nothing more.

He probably has it hooked up via bluetooth. You cannot communicate through your radio.

It's just an AUX jack, you can HEAR what comes out of your iphone whether it be music or a caller, but you cannot TALK through your stereo unless you have bluetooth of some sort afaik.

That is the exact reason I could not figure out why my wife could hear me. I was listening to the ipod, the phone rang, I slide the bar over and said hello. She said it was crystal clear. Not sure if the iphone has that good of a microphone or not. Anyway, I don't see a microphone anywhere in the runner so I'll just go with it. Speaking of, just got back in from the garage installing the lift. 3hrs, not too bad. Now for spacers and new donuts. :bluejump:

to clarify, all i did was plug an aux cable from iphone (headphone jack) to aux jack in center console. no bluetooth setup and our 4 runner has no nav... just the one with a cd player.

i have no idea where the microphone is in the car, but it works.

i've also tried covering the iphone microphone to see if the person on can still hear me and they can still hear.

it was definitely a cool discovery... just give it a try and see.

when you plug in the iphone to the aux jack it recognizes that it just a headphone output. it sends the sound out the headphone jack and you hear sound out your runner speakers and it uses the mic on the iphone. there is no mic through the runner it is a different wire that has 4 connectors in it standard headphone jacks only have 3 connectors and the iphone can tell the difference. you can use your iphone to talk to someone the same way with a normal pair of headphones. and use the iphones mic. Hope this helps

Just to mess with your mind a bit, my 08 Yukon (pile that I sold) had an aux port. My iphone did not work through it. Lame. Short story, it works in the 4R and that was a nice surprise. Maybe my iphone just likes the 4R better!
