Just got my TB and water pump done

Got all the parts online and had a local shop do the labor for me.

Labor $350.00
Pump Kit $170.00........98-09 Toyota Land Cruiser Tundra 4.7 V8 Timing Belt Kit | eBay
Coolant $28.00, I used Zerex Asian Blend

Total around $550

Hydraulic actuator didn't need replaced, cam/crank seals were fine and not leaking. Water pump was leaking a little bit. TB was starting to fray a little on the edges. Glad I got it done. 109k on it.

i have 85,800 miles on the truck. next oil change is 88,000 miles so I'm probably aiming for the oil change after the next one to do this. How long did the labor take?
 
I like that kit because it contains the o-rings that I didnt get when I ordered my pump and belt from Toyota. I think that was less than I paid for the belt, pump, and tensioner. I didn't replace the pulleys. The OE pulleys are way over priced.

That ad is a little confusing. It almost reads as if they are OE parts, but I assume they are after market with the claim that they are made by the OEM manufacturer. I would be a touch nervous about that.
 
I considered hard on having a local shop do the work but I did my TB on a Audi that I once owned and it wasn't hard just time consuming. I'm always afraid to not replace all the moving parts while i'm in there especially when this (like the Audi I had) is an interference engine. This is the kit i'll be doing this weekend. That does seem like you got a pretty good labor rate on the job. It's supposed to be like a 5 or 6 hour job right?

There is going to be some overlap but the labor chart says:

Timing belt is 3.5 hours plus .3 hours for each idler pulley
Water pump is 4 hours

It also lists the oem parts at:

WP = $143
Belt = $58
Idler pulleys = $92 ea



$350 sounds like a pretty good deal.

I just called one of the Stealerships around here to get pricing, since I've gotta get my Power Steering fixed (hopefully under warranty).

He quoted me $679 for the TB installed.
$380 for the WaterPump installed.

I figure that seems pretty high... :moon:
 
I paid $2.4k for TB, WP, all seals, tensioners, diffs, and trans fluid exchange on the cruiser. Then again the tri-state area isn't exactly inexpensive.

It is a Aisin pump kit. Same company that makes the parts for toyota. Kit part number TKT001. Same kit sold here on RockAuto, I just saved the shipping......http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=1798458

I think they charged me around 6hrs, how long it took? prolly like 4hrs, my guess.

I'm thinking 6-8 hours tops to do this again without all the analyzing, pictures, and interruptions.
