Just got my TB and water pump done

If you've got a garage and a decent set of tools this is a great weekend job for a shade-tree mechanic. Plenty of info online, my writeup is one of several on this Land Cruiser site: Timing Belt for Dummies writeup

I'm thinking 6-8 hours tops to do this again without all the analyzing, pictures, and interruptions.

First of all dude, excellent DIY write up. Your skills are WELL beyond mine, and I wouldn't know where to start (so I won't be attempting this)... but DAYUUM you took the time to make a nice thread there. $hit, I should just have you slide over here to the East side to do it :hungry:

On a side note, I may actually be changing my mind on this truck (it's been almost a month and I think it's too small with not enough MPG's to make it worth it)... and I may upgrade to a Sequoia (Gen-1). Scott, I may be interested in one in GR; what would it take to get you to slide over there to check it out? You can be my "shade-tree" inspector before I engage in the sale :hatsoff:

When i called around to get the TB, WP and 90k service done on my 03 V8, it ranged from $950 - $2200. I used the low offer to see if my local dealership (which happened to be the one asking $2200) if they could match it. They didnt hesitate to say yes, and we got it done. They did call me the day it was there at their shop saying the power steering needed a flush, adding another $200 to the bill, but hell, i need this rig to last, and they work with me a lot, so i said sher.

Theres a Sequoia (2004 i think?) at my local dealership for sale. It was there earlier this week, dunno if its still there tho. PM me if you want the info.

Not this week, I'm slammed at work 50-60 hours, and on call for my other job on weekends. Neglecting my family and workout time already. If it's on the west side of GR like Grandville, my wife could be talked into a drive to the mall with a detour to check out a truck. She's a car girl, looks at cars online, helps me wrench on occasion.

I got my belt replace at the dealership for $375 and I got them to cover the water pump under the certified warranty (+1 for the warranty). I had a few odds and ends done and was out the door for around $450 I think it was. I was quite happy about that.

why didn't u have them replace the pump while they were in there? your gonna have to pay for the whole job when the pump starts leaking, even though the belt is newer.......just my $.02, oh did u mean that cert paid for the pump??
