just picked up new Trail - already preparing for lemon law

I traded my Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon in for a Trail last Friday. I noticed a thump-thump sound at slower speeds right away and can also feel it in the brake pedal. Took it for a test drive with service mgr yesterday. He acknowledged the noise and suspected a bad tire (flat spot). I left it with them today. They replaced a tire or two and now suspect bad backlash in the front diff. A Toyota field tech is now involved. Right now the plan is to replace front diff and axle shafts. They may not get the parts until early next week. I'm driving a loaner Camry now....

That does suck, I hate hearing about stuff like this, and I hope things work out for you. Keep us up to date on how Toyota handles this. I think they should have given you a loaner 2010 4runner instead of a Camry.

Sorry to hear about it and I feel your pain.They should just find you another new TE since you only had it a couple of days. How many miles are on it?

The same thing was happing to my TE and it started to get worse, so I made an appointment to have them look at it. But as usual it went away. No sounds when the Tech looked at it and nothing when I drove with him. It has been a week since I heard the noise. But the tech said if I hear it again bring right down to him right away. I guess I will wait and see. Hopefully is not that. I have used 4wd a few time too. Nothing to bad though. Good luck though.. Let us know what happens

Thanks for the replies. Harper, I'm going to mention the transfer case to the service mgr. But at least they already have a Toyota field tech looking. The truck only had 16 miles when we picked it up and has just over 200 miles now.

If this try doesn't get it fixed, I will demand a 2010 4runner next time.

They will only get 3 trys before I start lemon law, then Toyota is allowed one last try.

Wow, that sucks. I hope they can quickly figure out what's wrong with it. I understand your frustration. When buying my 4Runner, I traded in a vehicle that gave me nothing but problems that the dealer couldn't find. That's irritating as hell.

WOW ! Not the norm for a Toyota, but one slips thru once in a while. I hope your dealer does whatever is necessary to make it NEW> Good luck
