I have actually never ridden in a JK but the comfort difference between my TJ and my 4Runner was absolutely night and day. It was like comparing a go kart to a Rolls Royce.
 
But you know what, I owned a black/black '95 4.0 Wrangler back in the day and for all it's coarseness, for all it's rough edges, I still smile when I think about cruising around in summer with the top off (or bikini top on if rain threatened).

Seriously, it was a hoot. It did so many things not right, but a few things really, really right.
 
Sure, on the road, but the JK offroad....Each has strengths and weaknesses. Not a JK guy myself, but its a pretty amazing offroad platform that will often walk right past the 5th gen. There are just way too many of them and I still can't stomach owning a Chrysler product.

My '83 CJ was probably my favorite vehicle in spite of how crude it was. Too bad it eventually rusted out from NE Ohio winters.

The day I bought my 4Runner I was actually filling out the paper work for a Rubicon when I stopped, looked at my wife and said: "It's the Runner". I'm willing to bet that except for the three percent of the time when a Rubicon will outperform my 4Runner I'm actually going to be more comfortable both on and off road. But I agree Jeeps are amazing at what they are good at. I actually owned a Jeep CJ - It was fun when I had my kidney belt on. And I agree, I just can't get past the Chrysler thing.
 
Our 15 JKUHR actually rides better than the new 4R BUT the 4R is like a luxury sports car when it comes to noise and handling. Best of both worlds. Just couldn't handle another long road trip in the Wrangler.
 
We have a '15 SR5P that I got for my wife last March. I've owned a ton of 4Runners and a few Wranglers. I was going to by a JKU Sahara. The Jeep with the 6 speed was fun. But practicality set in and I bought myself an SR5P also.
 
For some reason They are very popular in my area. I do think they have better colors than the 4 runner, but that is it.
 
I own both. The JK seats are more comfortable and hands down off road my JK wins.... now road noise and cabin layout, the 4 runner is king
 




missing this beast. it was a 6 speed 07 sahara that i probably put $6000 into it. beast on the trails. it had 93,000 miles on it before i traded it in for my 2016 sr5.

True, a Hemi powered JK would make me feel bad - but so does watching porn with black actors and why would I do that to myself.
