Just what you were hoping for, a BL question...

So after reading some of the posts on this great site, I am left undecided. I want a body lift to go with my current suspension lift and was debating between a 1" or 2". I am looking to run 285's and not sure if I would need the 2" and all the extra parts and work that goes with it. I look to you experts for advice as I am ready to pull the trigger with this mod. :thanks: in advance!

i was in the same boat. was told 1" would do, but thought im already spending it why not do $30 more for another 1". i figured more lift more clearance. so i did 2" and its perfect, wheels fit all the way in with 12.5 wide tires.

most dont like BL but IMO it let me maximize my wheeling.

Why not a 1.5"?

Good question. I was under the impression that 1.5" and 2" require the same brackets for the shift lever extension. I guess thats what I'm worried about. I have read the instructions and they have left me scratching my head. 1" just seems straight forward IMO.

Did you get your BL from 4crawler? Does it come with good installation instructions?

i got it from Toytechlifts.com. it came with ZERO instructions.... it came with a rad drop and didnt figure it out but the bottom of the valance popes out and thats a common fix that i did. the steering was easy, no need for instructions. the bolts are different lengths but easy to figure out. took me and my buddy less than 2 hours.

Ive got the 2" BL from Toytec, the steering extension was a little bit of a pain to put in because of where its located but not that bad, there is nothing additional needed for the shifter, only adjustment if you are really picky because it still shifts with the body lift it just doesnt read the right gear your in on your shifter. As well there is the rad drop bracket which is also easy. IMO like THORIDER said the 2" is more beneficial because it keeps you open to more and different modifications like 35" tires with less modifications.

Thanks for the help. On 4Crawler it is recommending a shift lever extension. Do I need that for a 2" BL with a automatic trans?

ok yeah there is the couple problems. like bumper lift, if its a 5spd the shifter boot will pull off in 2nd and quite a bit needs cut to be able to shift. and if there is a hitch on back there is quite a gap but it doesnt bother me much.

So I ordered and received my 2" BL. My question now is where are the A, B, and C pillars located? It does not state in the instructions. :thanks:

A pillar is the metal post going from pivot ppoint of hood to roof. B pillar is where the front seat seatbelts attach. C pillar is where rear seat seatbelt attaches.
