K&N Cold Air Intake - part number

hey guys, got a quick question. i've found this for sale, for like $90, in the box, new.

didn't see it yet, but i was told it is a second generation, the black thermoplastic one. i know this is much more on the net, and i'm wondering how would i know if the kit is complete, if is for real or not?
thank you, i appreciate your input.
by the way, is it an easy installation? and an easy swap back to the original? for you guys who have this already installed, is it worth it the money, the trouble? any advantages at all? i've read about it and i've seen that the opinions are very different.
thank you again.

Well, sounds like a good deal. Just make sure its the actuall complete K$n kit. I know sometimes they will say its a kit and really its just a short ram air kit, meaning a short tube and a K&n filter. A full kit has everything. Just match up the part number.

yeah, that's something i'm not sure about: the part number is 57-9015-1 and i've got a sport edition 2001. now i've searched and for a SR5 i've found out that it does not fit , but for a 'base' it will. not sure what exactly 'base' trim is.

K&N = POS, IMO.

I stick with OEM. If I HAD to choose an aftermarket unit, I'd go with True Flow. With the stock box, mind you.

Also, those that are looking for power gains, they will be unpleasantly disappointed at the gains, because there will be none. And that's with basically any bolt on mod. If you want power increase with the 3.4L, you have to go FI.

IMO the best deal for the air box is to do the deck plate mod, it's cheaper, it gets more or at least the same amount as CAI and you can seal it if you do some off roading...
