Thought i'd share this with everyone.

1. Pull up to right turn yield and stopped due to oncoming traffic (big bus coming my lane)

2. Person behind me thinks i'm gonna risk it pulling in front of a bus going 50mph and puts the pedal to the floor

3. Head snaps back and dazed a bit.

Still nearly brand new, and what a day it has been.... my poor Runner. The funny thing is, i just finished up washing and completely waxnig my car prior ot this... lol :dammit:

Is the rear hatch damaged, I could see a slight touch and a minor scratch but to go pedal to the floor into you, what an idiot

I say 2000 + or - in damage if they replace all parts with new parts, only way it should be fixed:

What was the other guy in and what was heshe doing when they did that looking behind out the rear

Yeah the rear hatch is damaged, the lower left portion is eventually smashed in to the point my rear window won't even go down. The left rear was pushed out of its locks and the center peice including my tow hitch was damaged.

He was assuming i was gonna fly outta the turn like a rocket so he just pushed it and rammed into me realizing my brake lights were on when he hit me. good enough to say i smashed in his frontend. Well his fault, so he's paying for it all

P.S. he was in a 98 Silverado

Sorry to hear about what happened to you truck. Those things definitely ruin your day. Did you get injured from the accident most importantly? I would make sure that the collision shop repairs your truck with brand new factory parts. When you pick it up, make sure that the tailgate closes the way it should and aligns correctly. Don't accept anything less than perfect!! Did the cop at least give the person a ticket for careless driving? That is what they automatically do in NJ for those kinds of accidents.

Well i ended up with a sore neck a bit after. It was kind of like a stiff neck feeling for a bit. His insurance compensated for that and had a Chiro check me out totally fine complete with X-rays. I had the truck brought in asap to MY dealer collision center, and they are ordering everything new. Hitch, Tailgate, new set of bumpers, new rear window, new wiper... etc... even down to a brand new set of emblems and new screws and nuts for everything lol.

As for the cop, he eventually had a long lecture with him concerning what he did, and then came up to me and explained that in Texas 99.9% of the time the person behind is at fault. he didn't issue a ticket to the guy though, must be sorry for his 1k+ premiums he has to pay now i guess.

P.S. They were even nice enough to charge him for a new license plate holder , had mine cracked during incident.

Sorry to hear about your baby. I went thought this about 3 years ago, I had an RSX and got rear ended. I was stopped in DC traffic, some young girl was blabbing on the phone hit me at about 50mph. My car got launched into/under the truck in front of me. Had to force the door open. Car was totaled, had it for 7 months. The same thing almost happened again this Friday coming home from work. I hear squealing tires, but the guy in some Mitsubishi SUV turns onto the median, ends up with two flat tires.

just be glad the guy HAD insurance. A jackmonkey here hit me a couple weeks ago, fled the scene, and not only had he never registered the truck, but he naturally didn't have insurance. My uninsured motorist offered me $1400 for my 93 accord (totalled). If any of you don't have uninsured motorist protection on your vehicles (especially medical coverage) you would be wise to get it. The cop that took my statement said in about 1/2 of the wrecks he works at least one party doesn't have insurance, and it's usually the one at fault......

That hourly job rate is incredible. Living in NY, we usually see $80/hr on the norm.

I hope they do a good job fixing you 4runner. Make sure its perfect, or don't even take it back until it is. Have them do an alignment as well.

Heck you never know what may have been affected.

since, I've been rear ended like you in the past in my civic. I will never hesitate at intersections like that anymore. I'm either going for it or not. No hesitations, that way the guy behind me won't have to second guess what I'm going to do. That way I won't get rear ended again.
