KDSS front sway bar replaced...

Are you sure the cylinder actually has a problem or was that the dealer just throwing stuff at the wall to see what stuck? I just ask because I don't think there are a bunch of threads about KDSS cylinders failing. At least I don't think there are...

This is exactly why I am planning on going by tomorrow and taking a look myself. And I appreciate the suggestions on checking the bushing first.
If I don't see an obvious defect in the cylinder, I might ask them to replace the bushing first and see what happens.

So I had a clunk develop on drivers' side front area at about 5k miles. Was so annoyed at first I posted a video on YouTube trying to film it and see if others had ideas. for the last four years just decided it was KDSS and lived with it...

Im now at 46k miles and had the ICON's rebuilt for the first time.... and the clunk is gone! Toytec found that some brass spacer ring of some sort inside had been out of position for a while and believed that to be the cause of the clunk.

Long story short... might not be KDSS. Try switching your coilovers from side to side. Replace bushings, then go from there.

Within 2000 miles of buying my 2018 I noticed the metal band clamp was off the driver's side KDSS sway bar bushing. It's there to help keep the bushing from extruding and I asked the dealer to replace it. They replaced the whole sway bar.

Shortly after that I added a 2.5" Radflo lift and E-rated KO2s. A few times a year since I've exercise the truck fairly vigorously.

At my 35K service I noticed that same band clamp off again, I then noticed the bushing had extruded and split radially. They replaced the whole sway bar again.

In both cases the dealer said they can't get the bushing alone, just the whole sway bar assembly. Since it looks like I'm going to need to replace that driver's side bushing every 15K-30K where are people getting the loose bushing from?

I also had issues with the metal clamp and just cut it off and used a zip tie. Worked pretty darn well!

This the same metal band you guys are having issues with? I have an icon stage 2 lift, 15k miles on it, 20k miles on the 4R. Was planning on just replacing the bushings. Seems like you can just buy and replace?

I'm at 40k miles on a 2019 and been having a clunking noise coming from the front driver side KDSS for quite sometime now; i recently got my bushings replaced and that didn't fix anything. I believe its coming from my hydraulic cylinder cause when I rock my vehicle side to side majority of the sound seems to be coming from that area and I can feel it when holding onto the sway bar at the same time; but if the hydraulic cylinder is to blame wouldn't the KDSS sensor/light appear on my dash? Driving performance also still feels the same, just driving with this clunking noise is annoying af! lol

I had the same issue with the fastener coming off. Dealership wanted to replace the entire sway bar. I just added a zip tie and has been holding on for months now. I'll just keep replacing

have you replaced your lower spherical bearings on your coilovers yet?

no i haven't replaced the lower spherical bearings; last time i checked they were still looking good. I actually didn't think that would be the problem but i'll give it another look since you mentioned it. I will also try and upload a video of the noise I'm getting. Its easier to replicate when its parked and i rock it from side to side; but when driving the noise is inconsistent and only noticeable when hitting different size bumps.

Zip ties come off within weeks. I have a 2.5" lift so maybe that's causing too much distortion for the bushing to stay in place, or maybe I'm articulating the suspension more than others.

Resurrecting this thread - trying to diagnose a rattle in the front left of my (2021 ORP w/ KDSS, 5k miles) and I just now found the *exact* same problem driver side bushing has split off in two, like the photo on page one.

Now my question is - I'm afraid to let the dealership even change the oil in my car, so should I just buy the bushing myself? Do these require any special lubricant or ?

Did you end up replacing the bushing yourself? Got the part number for the bushing? The posting link on page two doesn't have the metal clamping on it so I'm not sure it's the same part.
