Does anyone know if KDSS is standard on the 2014 TE Premiums?

It is listed as an option in the brochure, but when you go to build one online it seems to be standard.

Thanks in advance.

A 1,750.00 USD Option.

When I go to build online it is an option. Remember the Option is selected when you have a Red Check Mark through the box. For me at least, it seems by default the 50 State Emissions is selected.

Yes, that is what I see also, but you cannot uncheck or deselect the option on the Trail Premium, where you can on the Trail.

Odd, i'm able to select and unselect it, on the Trail Premium.
I'm nearly 99% certain it is an option.

There are 12 seperate sales regions in the USA for Toyota, some privately owned like Gulf States region that we are in and they have different web sites determining what you can build online. It's what they determined would sell in their region and before you couldn't even get one around here unless it had KDSS and nav when I first checked. Dealer played stupid and said that's the only way they came and the KDSS had to have nav to work.

You could however go and special order one from some dealers how you want it as long as it could be configured that way from the factory. (usually takes months !)No crazy combos like years ago however.lol

You can check what the different regions order, get in and have onhand by inputting the zip of a city in that region on the main Toyota website. You may have clear your cookies so it doesn't keep getting the same local regional website.

Here are the 12 regions and some people have gone to other regions to get what they wanted and drove it back rather then special order and wait or some dealers can/will trade with other regions........ Determining Your Region for Toyota Deals | U.S. News Best Cars

Yup, that's exactly how it was when I bought my TE in 2010 in Houston. I didn't want nav but was told I had to have it if I wanted KDSS.

Its funny how they can change so much from region to region. When I got my TE here in CO, there were a total of 6 on the lot (including mine) - all had KDSS and none had Nav. All of the Limited and SR5's I looked in had nav though.

Can any of you guys comment on KDSS. I have never driven a 4runner that has it - I was just wondering if it was worth the expense. My dealer is telling me that if I want a 2014 TE with KDSS in my area, that I am going to have to special order one - and it probably would not deliver until January or February. Apparently Gulf Coast Toyota has not allocated any in my area.

I have KDSS on my 2014 Trail and I think it handles great. Ive never driven one without it so I cant say otherwise. For a higher SUV it really does hug the road well so im glad I have it.

I love it for on-road handling. Many KDSS discussions have been had here in the forum. Here's one:
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/117403-te-w-w-o-kdss-should-i-go-new.html
There are many more.
I think the only reasons to buy a TE without KDSS are:
1. You enjoy body roll
2. You plan on moderate to significant modification of the suspension--see post by SOcalTRAIL in the above thread

Would I wait several months to get the exact vehicle I wanted? Absolutely.

Options

Find a dealer who is willing to do an order and get what you want. Don't put up with dealers telling you how they all come. I got tired of that mess, found a dealer willing to order and did the 3 month wait. It's worth it.

KDSS is NOT available on any TE in the Gulf States region. I've confirmed it with 4 separate dealers. If you want it, you'll have to special order it or go out of state.

I have finally determined this as well. My dealer swore up and down for days that he had one on the way with KDSS. Went to look at it last night - one quick peek under the front end and guess what. No KDSS. I walked out. Found one out of state that has everything I want - put a deposit on it and will freight it here.

Yeah I ran into the same issue. Dealers swore up and down that they had KDSS, but when I asked them to look at the specific options listed on the computer, they stopped trying to deal with me (They realized they were wrong). I ended up placing an order for the exact one I wanted with a dealer outside of the city. He was one of a few that actually took the time to do a search to try and locate one. Needless to say he ended up with my business.
