Find the diagram for your aob switch and confirm color to pin location, I followed a write up on here and then noticed on my switch that the colors weren't in the same position as the write up. Saved me a lot of hassle seeing that before I powered up, used a pin pusher and flip flopped the connections

Or be 100% sure and use your multi-meter to find continuity between the two wires that are the switch and make sure it actually works before even trying to install it.

Maybe it's just me but I have a habit of testing things before I install them. It can save you a lot of time and grief if you have to start trouble shooting things.

For what it's worth, I just purchased a set of new Squadrons last week and the wiring harness and switch that Baja includes does not include a relay. I'd imagine a company like Baja tested this beforehand, and hopefully their switch can handle it, but either way I used the wires themselves for some of it but just wired it all myself with a relay like I do all my lighting and to a factory type switch and they work great.

Isn't the wiring BD supplies just a harness/plug adapter and the lights run off the stock relay connected to the stalk on the steering column at that point (without using a switch)?

[MENTION=141903]Kenstaroni[/MENTION] is correct - our Pair of lights include an economy wiring harness that does NOT include a relay. As mentioned above, here is the recommended upgrade harness for these lights. It's a higher quality harness with relay and additional length between leads.

Apologies for reviving the thread but thought it made sense to piggyback off one than start a new one. Probably a dumb question, but I've never done wiring before.

I have a pair of Squadron Sports (that I've set up as ditch lights), the Baja Designs harness with relay, and a Toyota factory switch I received from Rago Fabrication. I've got everything installed, but just need to finish wiring in the cab.

The BD harness comes with a toggle switch, but only has 2 wires connecting it whereas the Toyota factory style switch has 4 wires. Do I only use the 2 wires to the source and ground for the Toyota switch? All the YouTube videos I've watched show people connecting/using a harness with 3 wires.

You should be about to hook up the lights to the factory plug. My pros came with an adapter that let me keep it on the stock switch.

Really. Mine didn’t and I got the harness that Baja recommended earlier in this post and I’m not sure how to wire it up. This is the first time I dealt with a harness where the wires weren’t blue black and white. After you snip off the rocker switch that came with the harness there are only two wires black and red

Yeah. I bought mine from Xenon Depot when they were running a special. It came with the wire harness I linked except it's not a splitter. Mine also came with a red and black harness that I didn't use plus a switch.

All those with Rago switches and Baja squadron PM me and I can help with your issues. I have installed a few sets now. The light on the switch stays on 24/7 but it works perfectly and no overheating issues.

If you are NOT using a relay, it's very possible the switch isn't rated high enough for the Pair of lights. This would cause some problems like you're experiencing.

If you ARE using a relay and experiencing this, please post up as many photos of your setup as you can. It's possible something isn't hooked up correctly.

Here's something to consider.

You may need a 1 Amp diode in the 12v line going to the relay as suggested by AOB. See the second AOB diagram. A diode is safe insurance in any circuit given that the diode has a high enough rating. Use 1A as suggested.

I just installed my AOB switches and plan on diodes in each switch going to the relays even though only 1 switch will be triggered by the high beam like the second picture.

Agree or not @BajaDesigns ???

I am using the harness Baja designs recommended and linked to earlier in this thread it comes with relay specifically for the squadron I want to wires this to Toyota push switch. The switch wires are
Black red1 red2 green
The harness has a rocker switch with only two wires red and black.

Any other harness I used after you snip their rocker switch are blue black and white and I wired the Toyota switch
Black-black
Blue-both red wires
White-green

We're sorry to hear about the issue. How do you have the lights wired? Are they wired using the included Pair Wiring Harness? Or a different setup?

This is the harness I recommend for Squadron or S2 Ditch Lights:
Squadron/S2 Wire Harness-2 lights max 150 watts | Baja Designs

It includes a relay and everything is fused at the battery. This keeps the majority of the load off the switch and offers increased circuit protections.

If you are NOT using a relay, it's very possible the switch isn't rated high enough for the Pair of lights. This would cause some problems like you're experiencing.
If you ARE using a relay and experiencing this, please post up as many photos of your setup as you can. It's possible something isn't hooked up correctly.

I’m wiring up ditch lights from Baja with the better harness and hooking that all into a “factory” switch from Rago. Everything is wired up and working but the top half of the lights stays illuminated always and no bottom half.

Currently, I have switch with the green wire attached to the black coming from the harness Baja provide, as well as the first red on the red of the same harness; the black is grounded in the cab.

The 2nd red with add a fuse does enable the bottom to activate with the headlights but the top portion is constant. I tried to connect the 2nd red to a green on a factory switch and that only illuminates the bottom half like the add a fuse.

I have some pictures of my wiring set up if that helps.

Having the same issue as well. When I called Baja they didn't provide any helpful tips for me since they don't make the switch. Would be curious if someone knows how to properly wire these up with the upgraded relay harness and OEM style switch.

interesting, I asked baja about this and they did not reply. I haven't seen anyone actually wire this new style of harness to a CH4x4 or AOB style switch. I did take a look at the thread posted above but I do not want my switch light to be illuminated all the time even when the truck is off. too bad, really like the baja s2 lights but might have to rethink purchasing those. it seems like cali raised has the simplest wiring. sure their lights are not going to be better than baja but the price is good and if it's occasional use then maybe that makes more sense for people like me

You should be able to run power from the truck dash lighting to light the switch up when the lights come on. You do not have to power the light on the switch with the same power source for the lights themselves. If you know what I mean.
