keep transfer case lubricated for SR5/TE

We all know that we need to drive at least 10 miles a month in 4HI if we have part time 4x4. But I'm just curious - do we need to drive 10 miles at once or we can drive let say 3 miles a week or a mile a day for 10 days and it will keep transfer case lubricated good enough. What do you guys think?

I'm sure it'll be fine as long as you're at least using 4H from time to time. 10 miles is just a nice round number to remember.

Yes, usually it's not really a problem to me, last month for instance I drove at least 60 miles in 4HI, but I'm just wondering how it works : )

Why ten miles?

I'm no expert on this, but the ten miles might be required in one stretch so as to get the gear lube warmed up enough to either evaporate any condensation build-up inside the transfer case, or to thin the lube so it flows better within the t-case. Or maybe both.

Most of the time I do it on "installment" basis just to get it lubricated. However, whenever there is a long stretch of straigth road I engage 4HI for as long I could.
